1. SCOPE

This procedure covers the inspection and Installation of Earthing System

2. PURPOSE

The Purpose of this procedure is to provide for the detail requirements that are followed
during the Installation and Inspection of Earthing System.

5. RESPONSIBILITIES

5.1 General Requirements

The installation inspection is performed by a QC-Inspector and Witness Points are


coordinated with the COMPANY as per the relevant ITP.

6. PROCEDURE

6.1 MATERIAL INSPECTION

6.1.1 Prior to transportation to site, earthing cables and accessories are inspected
for mechanical damage and suitability of proposed application.

6.1.2 Earthing & Bonding accessories include mechanical fasteners, listed earthing
straps and clamps, flexible braided ground straps, conductive lubricating grease,
anti-oxidizing compound, pvc tape, and coatings.

6.2 Installation Inspection

6.2.1 The location of ground bus-bars is inspected as per the approved IFC drawings and the
assemblies inspected to ensure the hardware is secured.

6.2.2 Splicing and wrapping are as per approved IFC drawings. The use of mechanical
connections such as listed clamps and bolts being used above or underground shall be
approved by the company.

6.2.3 Equipment is inspected to ensure the earthing and bonding are installed and located as
per approved drawings.

6.2.4 The termination of earthing cables is inspected to ensure the crimping, exothermic
welding, and/or bolting is secure and where applicable, protected against corrosion.

6.2.5 Installation of grounding system shall be jointly inspected by JEC & QP QC Inspector
and signed off on Form no. ATS-ER-002

6.3 Installation of Instrument Earthing

6.3.1 Earthing of process control instrumentation is in accordance with approved drawings.


6.3.2 All shielded instrument cables shall be grounded on one end only preferably on control
room marshalling cabinet’s instrument earthing bar unless otherwise noted.
