London School of Tailoring
Sandra trained at the London College of Fashion and graduated with a
Distinction in Diploma in Tailoring. At LCF she was trained to very high
standards of handcraft tailoring by Savile Row Tailors:

Philip Branch, trouser and coat maker for the acknowledged ‘founders
of Savile Row’ Henry Poole, was the teacher who taught her trouser and
waistcoat cutting and making.

Francis Redican, coat maker for two of the finest tailors in London with
international reputations, Kilgour French & Stanbury and Sandon & Co
Ltd; as well as Tommy Nutter, who is widely credited with reinventing
the Savile Row suit in the 1960s - where he made suits for luminaries
such as the Beatles, Mick Jagger and Elton John - taught her how to cut
and make coats.

Colin Stovell, head of the then tailoring department, who worked for a
prestigious tailor in the Strand, taught Sandra advanced tailoring
techniques.

Sandra wants to continue the teaching tradition she benefitted from. She
has made it her lifelong ambition to revitalize the teaching style that
motivates and encourages learning and, to that end, develop teaching and
learning resources breaking down retail bespoke cutting and handcraft
tailoring into easily digestible chunks, to aid the teaching and learning of
this specialist subject to smaller groups.
Sandra has carried out extensive research in this field to support her
teaching.

I was once told that the key to becoming a good tailor or cutter is
experience and practice. These are not the sort of skills that can be
transferred by lecturing large groups from a distance. Students learning
to draft a pair of trousers will observe the teacher in the front of the class
going through the drafting sequence until a completed pair of trouser has
been drafted.
