Powerful Interactions Observations

Date: March 10,2020

School: Early Childhood Lab CSN Charleston campus
Teacher: Amy
Age of the child: 3

Time: 9:15am - 9:29am

Setting: a 3 year old boy named Chris was trying to pain in the board but one of his classmates was
drawing in there before he get there, so Chris start to be annoying about it and start to make a tantrum
so the teacher offer him a pice of paper
Interaction:
T: Chris do you want a pice of paper?
S: Yeah
T: *Teacher went for the pice of paper* Here, sit down in here
S:*The student sit down and paint*
After a couple of minutes the student get bored and went to another part of the class to play with
another teacher but she was in her way out so he come back and give a big Hugh to his teacher.

PI Characteristics: In a powerful interaction, You are focused in that child (pg 9). In this case, I think that
even tough the student went to another teacher, when he come back, she cuddle and sings to him
because she knows that he needs of attention in that time.

Improvement: I think that in this case the only thing that I will recommend to the teacher that no only
give the paper to the student but also ask him this such as “What are you planning to draw?” “Did you
need more help looking for colors?” And things like that, because I felt that event though it was a good
interactions because the child look for her for cuddles, for me she wasn’t present with the child, she just
was dong her job.
