Localised failure in steel structures

Abstract

Flange local buckling, web local buckling, web crippling are the failure modes in steel structures, if
the section, may it be I section or U section or W section, the sections depth, width is such that it’s
width and flange width and depth all do not correspond to AISC-LRFD, then there are chances of
localised failure, if the connections are welded, bolted or riveted joints, they are not designed as
elasticity for proper yield point then there are chances that structure may yield leading to localised
failure
