Growing up in Bragg Creek, I spent most Math, Science Teacher at École Okotoks Junior High School

my passions were fostered by my parents:

WHILE AT EOJHS, I…
 acted as teacher sponsor of our GSA.
 organized our first GSA Network Pride Party at EOJHS.
 coached triple ball for Grade 7 girls, sprinting and
relay for all grades.
 supported my colleague by acting as assistant
coach at cheer competitions.
 ran weekly math tutorials throughout the year in
order to support student learning.
 represented teachers on EOJHS School Council.
 acted as liaison between staff and Foothills Local
ATA in my role as a School Rep.
 ran the concession tent during Track & Field.
 attended CMASTE Conference on Indigenous
Science Education and then shared my learning with
staff during school learning day.

MY PROFESSIONAL GROWTH GOALS INCLUDE…


 increasing student engagement in my classroom through
the development of activities and assignments that foster
problem-solving skills, enduring understandings, and build
the confidence students need to communicate and apply
what they have learned to new contexts.

 improving the efficacy of my differentiation,


accommodations, and interventions to best support each
student’s learning.

 strengthening relationships with EOJHS community members


through regular and authentic communication with students
and parents, and through my role as teacher representative
to School Council.

 embedding indigenous ways of knowing in authentic and


meaningful ways in my classroom. To collaborate with my
colleagues to create frameworks, activities, and assessments
that incorporate understandings and appreciations for these
traditional teachings according to the new Teaching Quality
Standard.

 contributing to the safe and inclusive environment of EOJHS


in my role as a teacher and through my work with class
circles, our GSA, and as a coach.

 promoting mental health education and supports in my role


as a teacher, GSA sponsor, and Diversity, Equity, and Human
Rights Chair of the Foothills Local.
