Amid reports of the nationwide lockdown getting extended, the centre also appears to be
exploring the new possibility of implementing a new rule that will divide the districts of each
state into three colour zones red, orange and green based on the number of coronavirus cases
in a particular area.
TEMPLE TO VISIT

This rule has been suggested so that small scale industries can resume working in the safe zone
areas, where no positive cases have been reported, in order to revive the economy in the country.

According to reports, the areas will be categorised based on the number of confirmed COVID- Story of Satyanarayan
19 cases that have been reported in it. A red zone, also referred to as the containment zone, will  Puja 
be an area where more than 15 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported. In this zone, no  23
activity will be permitted, and it shall remain totally sealed and there will be no movements of
the vehicles.

An orange zone will be an area with less than 15 coronavirus cases, where no fresh cases have
been reported. These zones will reportedly allow only a few restricted activities, such as
minimal public transport.

Lastly, the green zone, i.e. the safe zone will be a region with zero positive coronavirus cases.
At present, India has 400 such districts where no cases have been reported.

Both green and orange zones will allow some activities with the strict guideline of following
social distancing. Moreover, in these two zones, the micro, small and medium enterprises will
also resume their operations.

In order to improve the country’s economic situation amidst the lockdown, various state
governments are planning to restart industrial activities and basic transport movement within
districts that have not been touched by the pandemic virus. ADS Goes Here 194 x 400

On Sunday, April 12, the decision to extend the lockdown was proposed during the meeting of
Chief Ministers of various states with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, so as to contain the spread
of coronavirus. While some states have already decided to extend the lockdown due to the
worsening situation, other states await the final decision from the central government on the
extension of nationwide lockdown.

Earlier, the Health Ministry in an address to the media stated that without strict lockdown
measures the number of positive cases could have spiked to 8.2 lakh by April 15. One of the
latest study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) also highlighted the
importance of social distancing. The study shows that India can reduce the cases by 62 percent if
social distancing and quarantines measures are effectively implemented underlining the
importance of these two measures in controlling the spread of novel coronavirus. RECOMMENDED

TRENDING New Delhi, on Sunday, announced 43 red zone areas in the national capital. These areas were
POSTS
subsequently sealed by the Delhi government, following which ‘Operation Shield’ was
implemented. This operation involves sealing the affected areas, home quarantining, isolation
and tracking, ensuring essential supply, local sanitisation, and door-to-door checking.

PM Modi to take stock of COVID-19 situation today via video conferencing with CMs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scrutinizing the coronavirus situation in the country today as
he holds a video conference with chief ministers of all states. The prime minister has held two
such interactions with the chief ministers before. In his last such video conference, PM Modi
had announced his intentions to extend the lockdown beyond April 14 after most of the chief
ministers asked him for an extension in the lockdown because of the growing coronavirus cases.
After his meeting with the chief ministers, PM Modi extended the lockdown till May 3.

Earlier, PM Modi held a similar conference on March 20 to discuss with the chief ministers, the
measures that are needed to be taken to combat COVID-19.

The government has already given some relaxations in the lockdown by allowing standalone
shops across the country to open. Most of the states have complied with the government's order.

Some states have, however, had their reservations considering the fast-spreading coronavirus
in the area. More clarity on the matter is likely to come from the video conference today.

Coronavirus cases in India is around 26,917 while the deaths have piled up to 825. As many as
5,914 people in the country have recovered after contracting the virus.

At least nine Chief Ministers are expected to speak at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's video-
conference with Chief Ministers that began a short while ago, the third since the countrywide
coronavirus lockdown started on March 25.

The meeting's agenda mainly focus on to review the extension of the lockdown and a clear
exit plan.

The Chief Ministers of Bihar, Odisha, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Himachal
Pradesh and the Union Territory of Puducherry are likely to speak today in the meeting.

Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, suggested a staggered exit from the lockdown.
Assam and other northeastern states are likely to support a phased withdrawal from the
lockdown too.

The region is least affected by COVID-19 infections and is keen to open for business.

The states are likely to support restricted movement within the state. They may also suggest
keeping the borders closed and also blocking inter-state movement.

“The Chief Ministers discusses the responses to the partial relaxations granted on April 20
to certain sectors, the situation regarding test kits and the protection of doctors”.

The states are expected to get financial package from the centre. They could also discuss an
amendment to the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act to cap fiscal deficit,
which is likely to increase as vast sums of money will be needed for all relief and stimulus for
controlling the global pandemic.
In the first meeting on March 20, eight states brought the idea of containment of the virus,
upgrade of medical infrastructure and training local health resources.

In the second meet on April 2, around eight states had discussed an exit strategy once the
lockdown ends.

In the third meeting on April 11,the Chief Ministers had asked for an extension of the lockdown
to control the transmission of the virus.

As per reports Bihar and Odisha are among the states which have a low rate of transmission.

From this meeting, there is a chance that the lockdown will be extended further to control the
virus transmission.
A few state suggested to extend the lockdown further.

"The government should make provision for a health insurance scheme for journalists. ..in
the line with the insurance for frontline health workers," Sarangi said in the letter to
Javadekar. He also called on the central government to come out with specific guidelines for
all field journalists covering the pandemic, such as mandatory use of personal protective

"...It is more important that they are able to discharge their duty freely and truthfully,
counter disinformation and ensure that our people have access to crucial and timely

Arunachal Pradesh becomes Free from

COVID-19

It is reported that the state's only coronavirus patient was released from the hospital last week
and no new cases reported since Arunachal Pradesh has become the only other state besides Goa
and Manipur in India to successfully fight back COVID-19.
A 31-year-old man in the Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh who had tested positive for
coronavirus last month was discharged on April 17 and the infection appears not to have spread
any further.

Authorities say this was possible because of the dedication of the doctors and front line health
workers and a rigid quarantine regime practiced by the indigenous tribal groups wherever there
is an outbreak of a disease.

"Our first and the only COVID-19 positive case was reported from Lohit district, far off
from capital Itanagar. We have been able to cure the patient at the district hospital since
our medical team was ready. We were prepared. We had sealed our inter-state
borders,"Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar told.

"Even today, as we don't have any COVID-positive case, we keep the strongest vigil on our
inter-state borders. We are following a very strong sanitization protocol. But there was also
the challenge of keeping the local population away from the virus. Here, the indigenous
tribal quarantine practice was very helpful,"he added.

According to senior government, officers said that the tribal groups in Arunachal Pradesh
implemented their own customary rituals, equivalent to a lockdown much before the first
positive case emerged.

The Galo tribe performed Ali-Ternam, a customary lockdown, to avoid the spread of the
pandemic. The Adi tribe observed a ritual called Motor. The Nyishi tribe too observed a ritual
called Arrue that involved the concept of self-quarantine.

"The idea of staying in quarantine and maintaining the quarantine rules religiously is
ingrained in the society in our state. Thus, society as a whole became part of this effort to
keep the virus away. This has been a major factor in our fight against COVID 19,"Mr.
Kumar added.

While close to 12,000 people were quarantined in Arunachal Pradesh since the nationwide
lockdown began, over 10,000 have finished their 14-day quarantine in the state till Tuesday. The
state has tested 439 samples of which 34 results are awaiting the result, government authorities
reported.

After May 3, there may be relief from the nationwide lockdown. The group headed by Defence
Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to discuss an exit plan.

There will be no plan of extending the lockdown again, but rules like social distancing and
masks will stay. Trains, flights and inter-state traffic may stay banned, at least till May 15.

A spare is likely only in "green zones" or the areas that have the fewest cases of COVID-19.
Restrictions will continue in areas marked as containment zones because of a large number of
coronavirus cases. These zones are likely to be reassessed from time to time.
"Social distancing and masks has to become a way of life. These will be mandatory for a
long time now," sources said.

Travel within districts or cities is likely to be allowed.

While residents may be allowed to step out of their homes, by wearing masks and following
social distancing rules.
Offices may also be allowed to function under the same principles and curbs, sources say.
Gatherings will, however, stay banned; weddings, religious congregations and other big
meetings will not be allowed.
An exit plan and a roadmap beyond the lockdown will specifically focus on the way ahead for
the worst-hit cities, Mumbai, Delhi, Noida and Indore, to name a few.

Any easing of restrictions in cities with a high number of COVID-19 cases is likely to be
reassessed only after May 15, the sources say.

India has 18,601 coronavirus cases; 590 have died. The rate of recovery has improved
significantly over the past seven days.

The government is inviting local technology companies to build a secure video conferencing
app solution as part of the Make in India initiative. Interested companies can participate in the
“Innovation Challenge” on the mygov website. The last date to apply is April 30, 2020.

The top three teams will be shortlisted towards the final stage. Each team will receive Rs. 20
Lakhs funding to build the solution. The winner will get Rs. 1 Crore along with the certificate
from the Ministry of Electronics and IT. There will be additional fund of Rs. 10 lakhs for the
operations and maintenance.

The new initiative is put forth when people in the country are staying indoors due to the
COVID-19 lockdown. Many people are also working from home and relying remote working
solutions for conferencing, collaborating, and messaging. This, however, has also raised security
concerns.

For instance, viral videoconferencing app Zoom has come under scanner for poor security
protocols. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued guidelines on usage of the app. Describing the
app “not a safe platform”, the ministry posted a set of security tips to avoid privacy breach.

In its Innovation Challenge, the government is seeking for a solution that has “encrypted
network communication.” Other key requirements are not dependend on external hardware,
audio/video recording feature, screen/file sharing capabilities, close captioning during chat and
more. These requirements are pretty much the same popular videoconferencing applications
offer to their users.

“The National Policy on Software Products-2019 has also a vision to drive the rise of India as a
Software Product Nation, so as to make India as a global player in development, production
and supply of innovative and efficient Software Products, thus facilitating the growth across
the entire spectrum of ICT sector. The present proposal would be one of the key product, having
tremendous capability for scalability, market and domestic value addition,” says the government

Railways to run special trains for Army

officers

Amid the COVID-19 our Government has declared lock-down till May 3. The passenger trains
have suspended their services till May 3. But Indian Railway is planning to run trains for a
group of very special passengers on multiple routes.

Close to 1200 officers and jawans of Indian Army are likely to take trains from Bengaluru to
their postings in various parts of India this month. They had been stuck due to the 21-day
lockdown, and no other way of transporting them could be worked out.

As the government has suspended all train operations to prevent movement of people, special
permission had to be obtained from the top level of the government as three ministries Defence,
Home and Railways got together to find a solution to this unique transportation requirement.

“The moment lockdown was announced these officers were in training at different training
centers in Bengaluru, Belgaum and Secundarabad, all of which are under the Southern
Command,” sources said.

Government sources have confirmed that for now two routes have been identified to run non-
airconditioned trains for the army—to Guwahati and to Jammu Tawi. Defence sources
mentioned that the trains are being arranged to “meet the operational requirements of
Northern and Eastern borders”. Two military special trains are planned to run its service. One
will go from the three stations to Ambala and Jammu on April 17 and the other will go from
these three stations, via Howarah to Guwahati on April 18.

After the 21-day lockdown, they will now be sent back to their respective posting in the
Western, Northern and Eastern Commands. These trains, sources said, “will enable
decongestion of category A and B training establishments at Bangalore, Belgaum,
Secundrabad and Gopalpur as well assist in operational preparedness of active formations
deployed in the borders”.

However, unlike regular train services, these special trains will not take the shortest routes to
destinations. And they will halt at multiple places for long periods en route. Each special train
will have a pantry car. Both Railways as well as Army will work to santise the coaches.
Accounting for social distancing, each non-AC sleeper coach, with a capacity of 72 will
probably hold around 40 jawans.

While the North India route may be through Bela, Agra, Jhansi, Delhi, the Northeast route may
be through Vijaywada, Howrah and Katihar. Defence sources said the routes were being
finalized.

Sources added that so far this arrangement is a “one time affair” although it might take days to
complete the total transportation requirement; the routes are still being finalized. Army is in
“further coordination with Ministry of Railways and is in progress for planning additional
trains in coming weeks,” defence sources said.

The army officers and jawans were at various training centers in the Southern Command when
the nationwide lockdown was announced on March 24.

Sources told the media that there are several training centers across the Southern Commands.
The officers and troops will be picked up from three different stations under the Pune-
headquartered Southern Command—Bengaluru, Belgaum and Secundarabad and sent to their
postings in Ambala in the Western Command, Jammu in the Northern Command through one
train, and to Guwahati in the Eastern Command through a different train.

The three stations have training centers including the CMP Centre and School, Parachute
Regimental Center, Pioneer Corps Training Center, Army Ordnance Corps Center, Military
College of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, College of Defence Management, and Basic
Training Institute, among others.

The government has made new additions to the list of activities that will be allowed after April
20th amid lockdown in parts of the country that are least affected by coronavirus.

Banking sector will be marked as essential services that can resume. Coconut, spice bamboo,
areca nut and cocoa plantations, and forest produce by scheduled tribes have also been added to
the list.

Construction in rural areas of water supply and sanitation and laying of power lines and
telecom optical fibres and cables will be permitted, according to a notification put out by the
home ministry.

The government said that mobile phones, televisions, refrigerators, laptops, clothes and
stationery items for schoolchildren can be sold on e-commerce platforms like Amazon,
Flipkart and Snapdeal, along with essential commodities like groceries and medicines.

Delivery vans of the e-commerce companies would need permission from authorities to operate
on roads to deliver the items.

The government has come out with guidelines for the revival of industrial and commercial
activities after Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended till May 3 the lockdown to check the
spread of coronavirus in the country.

After continuing a strict lockdown till April 20, the districts that are not virus hotspots will be
allowed to resume some industrial, construction and manufacturing activities as the government
attempts to restart the economy and move towards a gradual exit from the nationwide shutdown
to prevent the infection from spreading rapidly.

The home ministry has also issued guidelines for social distancing and other precautions to be
maintained at workplaces while these activities resumes back to normal.

Piyush Goyal On Railway's Anniversary

 2020-04-16 09:42:09  by Mahonnathi

Railways Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted this morning to mark the 167th anniversary of the
country's first passenger service - a 14-carriage train hauled by three steam locomotives (Sindh,
Sultan, and Sahib) - that ran from Mumbai to Thane on April 16, 1853. The 21-kilometer
journey was covered in around 75 minutes. "Serving the nation since 1853... 167 years ago
the first passenger train was flagged off from Mumbai to Thane," Mr. Goyal said.

“The Indian Railways, which runs one of the largest rail networks in the world and
employs lakhs of men and women, is a key component and driver of the Indian economy,
transporting Rs 28,032.80 crore worth of goods and earning Rs 12,844.37 crore from
passenger fare in the third quarter of 2019/20 alone” according to news agency PTI.
These services have been halted, for the first time since they began, for nearly a month now,
amid a lockdown to stop the spread of the infectious coronavirus pandemic.

"After a long and glorious service, for the first time, operations have paused for the safety
of the nation. I thank people for cooperating amid the pandemic. We will emerge
victoriously," the Railways Minister tweeted.
Under the strict terms of the nationwide lockdown, ordered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi
last month and extended by two weeks on Tuesday, all passenger services have been shut.

The earlier lockdown had been in force till April 14 and the Railways had begun accepting
bookings for journeys starting April 15. Railway authorities said that these fares will now be
refunded in full; this will lead to a revenue loss of around Rs 1,490 crore.

Indian Railways will, however, run special parcel trains on selected routes to ensure an
uninterrupted supply of essential items during the lockdown period.

"Transportation of essential items like medical supplies, medical equipment, food, etc., in
small sizes is going to be very important during the lockdown. In order to fill this vital
need, Indian Railways mas made railway parcel vans available for quick mass
transportation by e-commerce entities and other customers, including state governments,"
told in a press meet.

According to the Railways, these trains will run between major cities and will also connect
remote areas of the country, such as the northeast to ensure the supply of essential services to the
citizens.

The Railways has also been working to produce coveralls for healthcare workers treating
COVID-19 cases across the country.

This week the Railways said it would produce over 30,000 units in April alone and had plans to
manufacture 1 lakh more by May. The Railways has also produced around 40,000 liters of hand

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid the
extended lockdown over the COVID-19 pandemic and discussed the state of the economy as
several sectors are not running in their full capacity.
Some industries in rural areas, e-commerce, information technology (IT) and farming will be
allowed after April 20, the government said on Wednesday in new guidelines a day after PM
Modi extended the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown till May 3 and said restrictions would be
relaxed after a week in the least infected parts of India.

The government says it will also allow continuing the construction of roads and buildings in
rural areas and the manufacture of IT hardware to reduce the distress of millions during a
prolonged lockdown to slow down the spread of coronavirus.

The government also informed that the inter-state transport of goods, essential and non-
essential items, will be allowed after April 20. Highway dhabas, truck repair shops and call
centers for government activities can reopen from April 20.

Manufacturing and other industrial establishments with access control will be allowed in special
economic zones, industrial estates and industrial townships after implementation of SOP
(standard operating procedure) for social distancing. Manufacture of IT hardware and of
essential goods and packaging can resume its functioning.

The center last month announced a financial package for those hardest hit by the pandemic. "It
is our firm resolve that the poor and vulnerable get all possible help to cope with the
testing times," PM Modi had said while announcing the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan
Package, a Rs 1.75 lakh crore stimulus that included free food grain and cooking gas to the poor
for three months, and cash to women and senior citizens.

All 6 Metros, Other Major Cities Marked Red
Zone

A list of 170 hotspot districts was released on Wednesday by the Centre, which includes all six
metro-cosmopolitan cities. The list marked 123 districts as "large outbreaks" -- which includes
all nine districts of the national capital Delhi. Mumbai, Kolkata, 9 districts of Bengaluru Urban,
Hyderabad, Chennai, Jaipur, and Agra were among the areas marked hotspots on the list.

A "hotspot (red zone) classification" would be districts or cities contributing to more than 80
percent of the cases in the country or the state. Places that show a high rate of infection -
doubling rate of fewer than 4 days - will also be in this category.

All six metros - Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad - currently
have a high number of cases as of the present report.

Mumbai alone has 1,896 cases as of Wednesday, more than half of the Maharashtra figure of
2,916. Delhi has a total of 1561 cases. Of these, 30 patients recovered and 30 died. The Delhi
government has marked 56 areas as containment zones, which means excluding essential
services, no one is allowed to get in or out of these areas.

Of the 170 hotspots, 47 shows cluster outbreaks, the government said. Cluster outbreaks are
ones where the virus spreads in clusters, over 15 cases are reported and the infection shows no
sign of stopping.

Besides, the list also mentions districts where there have been cases, but the numbers were
limited. These 207 districts have been marked as potential hotspots, the government has said,
tasking the states with ensuring that the outbreak is contained in both red and the orange buffer
zones.

For all the hotspots, the state governments have been tasked with ensuring that that the disease is
contained without spreading it. If no new outbreaks are reported within 28 days and all the
existing patients recover, the area can be declared as a green zone, the government has said.

For a concerted push against the virus in red zones, the government said there should be special
teams to conduct door-to-door surveys and tests. The tests will not just be for COVID-19.
Patients of influenza-related illness and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness will also be tested
since such patients have often tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

India's COVID-19 lockdown – The biggest in

the world

India's nationwide coronavirus lockdown, the biggest in the world, will be extended until
May 3, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said.

The three-week lockdown of the nation of 1.3 billion people, which started at midnight on
March 25, was scheduled to end on 14th April.

But in his recent address to the nation he made it very clear that there is need to extend the
lockdown in order to eradicate the virus transmission. He said that there will be some
restrictions till April 20th and each police station, each district, each state will be monitored
closely to see if the lockdown is followed closely.

"We can then decide on relaxing restrictions in those areas that are successful in this test,
have successfully contained the hotspots and prevented new ones."

"From the economic angle, we have paid a big price," Modi said in a nationwide address.
"But the lives of the people of India are far more valuable."

According to official figures, South Asian nations have so far been relatively unscathed by the
pandemic, with India reporting more than 10,000 cases and 339 deaths.

But with some of the most crowded cities on the planet, there are fears that numbers could
increase and can even shake the healthcare systems.

India's poor worst hit

But at the same time, the lockdown, with strict limits on activity, has been devastating for the
economy - and for India's poor.

Millions of daily wage labourers suddenly lost their jobs, forcing hundreds of thousands to make
the long trek back to their home villages, hundreds of kilometres away, often on foot.

Some died on the way, while others were shunned by locals when they made it back to their
villages. One viral clip showed a group of migrants being hosed down with chemicals.

Others have been stranded in cities in cramped, unsanitary conditions where the virus could
spread quickly.

New Delhi alone is providing hundreds of thousands of free meals to help those for whom the
lockdown means immediate hunger.

Farms, still the bedrock of the Indian economy, are heading into their most important harvest
time of the year, when many villages earn enough money to finance themselves for months to
come.

Invisible Assassin

Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das called the coronavirus an "invisible assassin"
that could wreak havoc on Asia's third-biggest economy.

The national restaurants association, which said its members employed seven million people,
warned on Monday there could be "social unrest" if it did not receive financial relief.
The commerce ministry has also reportedly urged the government to consider restarting more
activities "with reasonable safeguards" even if the lockdown is extended.
Even before the pandemic outbreak, the Indian economy was stuttering with unemployment at
its highest in decades.

Some analysts have predicted growth could slump to 1.5-2 percent this year - well below the
level needed to provide jobs for the millions coming into the labour market each month.

Modi's announcement came amid debates in countries around the world on how to lift
restrictions while avoiding a spike in new infections.

French President Emmanuel Macron extended a tight lockdown in France by another month, but
Italy and Austria are reopening some of its shops, and Spain is restarting construction and
factory work.

World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has warned against the lifting
the restrictions, stressing that only a vaccine can fully halt the spread.

'Yamraj'', worshipped by the Hindu religious people as the "god of death", roamed on the streets
of Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich, about 120 km from state capital Lucknow, by reminding people of
the danger if they step out of their homes amid coronavirus outbreak. He also warned that he
would take anyone "violating social distancing norms or the lockdown to the underworld".

"I am 'Yamraj. I am coronavirus. If you do not adhere to the rules, no human will be left
on the planet. I will become the cause of death of all. If you are careless, I will take you
with me," he spoke on Sunday, with a sickle in one hand. Some policemen stood around him as
he spoke.
"No one should violate the lockdown and step out unnecessarily. A handkerchief can be
used as a face mask, wash your hands repeatedly with soap, use sanitisers and maintain a
distance of one to two metres from each other. This will ensure everyone''s safety," he said.

Wherever ''Yamraj'' went, people, young and old, gathered at their doorsteps and listened to him.
However, there was no fear and many used their mobile phones to click his photos.

The Hindu God of Death was deployed by the Bahraich police to spread awareness about the
COVID-19 pandemic and tell people how precautions like social distancing, washing hands,
wearing masks can protect them against the disease.
Dressed as ''Yamraj'' in a black attire with a touch of gold and red was policeman Lavkush
Mishra from Baundi police station. A faux Hungarian moustache and a gold crown completed
his look.

Senior police officer Brahmanand Singh said, "We experimented with this idea in our area to
spread awareness about COVID-19 and it was successful."

Lavkush Mishra was fond of acting and before joining the police force, he used to act in
Ramlila. One of his colleague added.

Uttar Pradesh has reported 483 coronavirus cases so far, with 31 fresh infections detected on
Sunday.
According to Principal Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Mohan Prasad, at present, there
are 576 patients in isolation wards while 8,084 are in quarantine facilities.

Agra, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Lucknow, Saharanpur and Ghaziabad are the state's worst affected
districts.

UK To Receive 3 Million Paracetamol

Packets From India By Sunday

United Kingdom on Friday expressed its gratitude towards the Indian government as the first
batch of 3 million paracetamol packets is all set to arrive in Britain within 48 hours after New
Delhi lifted its export ban amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Lord Tariq Ahmad, the Minister of State for South Asia and the Commonwealth in the Foreign
and Commonwealth Office (FCO), said the shipment is symbolic of the cooperative way both
countries have been working through this unprecedented global crisis.

"UK and India continue to work in close partnership to restrict the spread of COVID-19.
My sincere thanks on behalf of the UK government to India for approving this important
shipment," Mr Ahmad said.

The shipment is all set to arrive on a plane by Sunday, will coincide with a series of charter
flights laid on by the UK government to ferry thousands of British residents stranded in India's
coronavirus lockdown.
"We have been working very closely with the Indian authorities, here at the Indian High
Commission in London, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and at state level in India
to put in place all the necessary requirements for British nationals wanting to return to the
UK," Mr Ahmad said.

"The sheer logistics of this exercise involves every individual who has registered on to our
central database being sent detailed information about booking their seat on the flights as
well as local support for them to be able to get to the airports in the particular states, given
the lockdown and curfews in place," he said.

The travellers are set to be flown out from Goa, Mumbai, Delhi, Amritsar, Ahmedabad,
Trivandrum via Kochi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai via Bengaluru over the coming week.

These people will be checked for any symptoms of the novel coronavirus before being allowed
to board the charter flights and on landing in the UK, they will be subject to the same self-
isolation and social distancing stipulations as other UK-based citizens, the FCO said.

An estimated 21,000 British residents are currently in India, of which around 5,000 are set to be
repatriated over this weekend and the next week with a total of 19 charter flights confirmed
between the different cities of India back to London. Passengers are given a chance to book on
to these flights at a standard 600-650 pound rate, with those facing financial difficulties given
the opportunity to access an interest-free loan to be paid back over a six-month period.

The British High Commission in New Delhi has said that it is prioritising the more vulnerable
within the nationals registered on its database wanting to return to the UK.

In reference to some calls for a possible passenger swap on these flights, for thousands of
stranded Indians in the UK to be flown back to India by return journey, the UK government said
that is a decision for the Indian authorities - given the ban on international flights in India.

The FCO said in the spirit of cooperation it has announced a series of measures to assist the
Indians caught up in the crisis in the UK, including an extension to any expiring visas until
the end of May and steps to safeguard university accommodation for Indian students.

Ash Leak From Reliance Power Plant in

Madhya Pradesh

Two villagers have died and four are missing after a breach in an artificial pond that stores toxic
residue from a coal power plant run by Reliance Power in Madhya Pradesh's Singrauli on
Friday evening. This is the third such incident of ash leak in the last one year in Singrauli,
about 680 km from state capital Bhopal, which has 10 coal-based power plants.

The bodies were found far from the site of breach, said officials. A team of 30 members of the
National Disaster Response Force or NDRF is involved in the search operation for other
villagers.

"At least five people who got swept away were inside their houses, close to the boundary of
the ash pond. This is a serious negligence by Reliance Power. We are trying our best to
rescue villagers who have gone missing. Crops have also been damaged. We will ensure
that compensation is given and the accountability is fixed," said Singrauli District Collector
KVS Chaudhary.

Photos and videos were taken by the villagers on their mobile phones show a sea of sludge in
the areas around the power plant and also what appears to be an agricultural land.
Last year, a protest was held by locals against the power plant in the area. "Three months ago,
we had protested against the ash leak by Reliance Power Plant. The company gave us in
writing that there would be no breach in the artificial pond. District Magistrate, collector
had conducted checks and assured us there won't be any mishap. Despite that, there was a
leak. The district administration is to be blame," Sandeep, a local, told reporters this
morning.

"Thousands of acres of land has been ruined, crops have been damaged. Two dead bodies
have been found. A negligence case should be filed against the district administration,
CEO of the power plant," he added.

This is the third incident in the last one year of breach in an artificial pond near a power plant in
Singrauli, home to 10 coal-based power plants with a capacity of over 21,000 megawatt - the
largest for one region.
These plants have made Singrauli the second-most critically polluted industrial zone in the
country after Ghaziabad, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.

"Earlier, an artificial pond near Essar plant was breached and also a project run by the
National Thermal Power Corporation Limited. Just a few months back, a national green
tribunal team had visited the area. All power companies had assured the team that their
ash dykes were in good health and were being maintained," said Ashwani Dubey , a lawyer
who has fought cases related to pollution in Singrauli in the green court.

"Singrauli is a critical zone in the country. Many directions have been passed in the past
but no one seems to listen," he added.

In August last year, after a similar breach in a power plant run by Essar, the company had
alleged it was "a clear case of sabotage". However, a government report on the breach had
blamed "extreme carelessness by the company management" and held them responsible for a
sub-standard boundary and not clearing waste material from the boundary.

Raghuram Rajan lends his hand to help

 2020-04-11 08:44:58  by Mahonnathi

The Former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) representative Raghuram Rajan has demonstrated
he is willing to support the nation if his help is looked to manage the monetary pressure
connected to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the nation under a lockdown to contain the
pandemic, a few areas that are as of now under pressure, for example, banking and aviation
sector are confronting an extreme strain.
All business except those for essential services are temporarily shut down.
"The answer is a straightforward yes," Mr Rajan, who is teaching in the US, told NDTV
on whether he would return to India if asked for his assistance on economic matters
during the pandemic.

"If the virus spreads, as it has spread in Italy and the United States, we have to take it very
seriously. What you see in these countries is a tremendous effect on public health, the
overburdening of many hospitals and many deaths and of course, when that is happening
economic activity is hard to carry on," Mr Rajan said.

The former RBI governor said the world is "almost surely in a deep recession". "Ideally, we will
see a bounce back one year from now, and it relies upon measures we take to prevent the
recurrence.”. He told.

The government has allowed banks to defer EMIs by three months. The aviation and related
sectors such as tourism have seen massive pay cuts and even layoffs after all flights were
stopped and people cancelled their bookings.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address the nation tomorrow to announce whether the
lockdown would be extended.

"The first sign of difficulties in India is often seem in foreign exchange. So far compared to
other emerging markets our exchange rate has stayed quite stable, presumably from some
support of the Reserve Bank of India. I should say we have depreciated some against the
dollar, but you know countries like Brazil have gone down 25 per cent. We haven't been in
that situation," he said.

In October last year, Mr Rajan said only "internal cohesion and economic growth" and not
"majoritarianism" will help strengthen India's national security.
"In the long run, it seems to me that internal cohesion and economic growth rather than
divisive, populist majoritarianism will be India's root to national security. So all this sort
of majoritarianism may certainly for a while win elections, but it is taking India down a
dark and uncertain path," Mr Rajan said at the OP Jindal lecture at Watson Institute, Brown
University, on October 9 last year.

India has overcome better when compared to different nations, for example, the United States,
Germany, Italy, Spain, South Korea, and Britain in the Oxford COVID-19 Government
Response Tracker.

OxCGRT provides a systematic cross-national, cross-worldly measure to see how government

responses have developed over the full time of the illness' spread. The task tracks governments'
arrangements over an institutionalized arrangement of pointers and makes a trade-off record to
gauge the stringency of these reactions. Information is gathered and refreshed continuously at
Oxford University.

Information is collected on 13 indicators, which incorporate how the government has reacted
on shutting down schools and workspaces; canceling public occasions; closing transportation;
launching public information campaign; limitations on internal movements; global travel
controls; financial measures; money related measures; crisis interest in social insurance; interest
in immunizations; testing arrangement, and contact following.
The Modi government moved quickly since the infection showed up in the nation and revealed a

progression of measures to stop the virus transmission. It reported a 21-day lockdown,

increased testing, closed transportation and global travel also prohibited flights from abroad.

It has reported the measures to help poor people and the Reserve bank of India has released the

Aviation regulator DGCA on Thursday issued certain guidelines for the storage of aircrafts and
their subsequent return to service as the nationawide lockdown has grounded almost all
commercial passenger planes in India.

"Some aircraft manufacturers have recommended storage programs. An operator may use
these recommendations while developing their own specific storage program," the DGCA
circular noted, adding that each company's storage program must be approved by the regulator.
The circular from DGCA further added that:
"Depending on the level of preservation, intended length of storage, and the security of the
aircraft, the operator should consider removing the C of A (certificate of airworthiness),
the C of R (certificate of registration) and other documents on board, from stored aircraft
for safekeeping,"

It has to be noted that India has imposed a 21 day lockdown till April 14 th to curb the spread of
coronavirus. Due to this, all domestic and international commercial passenger flights have been
suspended for this time period.

However, cargo flights, offshore helicopter operations, medical evacuation flights and special
flights permitted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) are allowed to operate
during this lockdown.
Airlines have also been authorised to transport cargo across the country using commercial
passenger aircraft. IndiGo, SpiceJet, AirAsia India and Air India have been conducting such
flights.

However, most aircraft of Indian airlines are grounded currently due to the government order.

Hours after Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu expressed gratitude toward India for surging a five-
tonne cargo of medicine, including hostile to malarial medication hydroxychloroquine which is
accepted to be viable in treatment of coronavirus or COVID-19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi
at the beginning of today answered to him saying: "We have to jointly fight this pandemic."

The medicines reached Israel, where over 10,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported including
79 deaths, on Tuesday. In a tweet on Thursday, Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu wrote: "Thank
you, my dear friend @narendramodi, Prime Minister of India, for sending Chloroquine to
Israel. All the citizens of Israel thank you!"

In his response, PM Modi wrote: "We have to jointly fight this pandemic. India is ready to
do whatever is possible to help our friends. Praying for the well-being and good health of
the people of Israel. @netanyahu."
Mr Netanyahu had requested PM Narendra Modi to supply the hydroxychloroquine during a
phone call with Modi on April 3. Last month, he had urged PM Modi to approve and allow the
export of masks and pharmaceuticals to Israel.
India is one of the world's largest manufacturers of hydroxychloroquine, earlier this week it has
stopped its export of the anti-malaria drug to "nations that have been badly affected" by the
pandemic.

It is after when Donald Trump requested the PM Modi to lift the ban over the exporting of
medicines which finally helped the nations.

On Wednesday, Donald Trump, who had described hydroxychloroquine as a "game-changer"

in fight against COVID-19, after the drug was released said India's help during this crisis will
not be forgotten.

"Extraordinary times require even closer cooperation between friends. Thank you India
and the Indian people for the decision on HCQ. Will not be forgotten! Thank you Prime
Minister @NarendraModi for your strong leadership in helping not just India, but
humanity, in this fight!" Trump tweeted.
In his address to the nation on Wednesday, Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro, who attended this
year's Republic Day in Delhi as the chief guest, also thanked PM Modi for "timely help". This
morning, PM responded to him in a tweet. "The India-Brazil partnership is stronger than
ever in these challenging times. India is committed to contribute to humanity's fight
against this pandemic," he wrote.

The novel coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city late last year, has infected over
1.6 million people worldwide, however, the scientists are still under research and trying to
develop a vaccine that can protect against it and find cure for the illness.

Recycling Every part of the Cigarette

Do you know? A Noida-based company has started their mission to recycle cigarette waste that
helps in preserving the environment.
The venture is started by two friends who are in their twenties, the company is fighting hard for
a huge environmental hazard. Let's see!!

We know that today's generation smoke a lot due to many factors. But they are not thinking that
they are harming the environment in a bad way. Do you know it takes 10 solid years for a
cigarette to degrade.
It is important to ensure that the butt is fully extinguished and proceed to throw it in the dustbin
or on the street roads.

Have you ever thought about what happens after that? Have you thought about how the butt
decompose? Does anyone recycle it? Or does it end up polluting water bodies ? Many of us not
realise that a cigarette butt is made of cellulose acetate, a plastic filter that is not biodegradable
and can harm the environment for years once discarded.

The new venture started by Vishal and Naman were already thinking of starting a company
together, and this was their EUREKA moment. They decided to start recycling cigarette waste
with a mission to save the environment.
They launched the company called CODE- a company that offers a one-stop recycling solution
for cigarette waste. The best part is that customers can earn for collecting and handing the
cigarette waste.

Focusing to their recycling plan, Naman explains that Code is a zero-waste company. So every
inch of the waste that comes in has to be recycled. The paper covering the butt and some amount
of tobacco that is often left behind with it are organic waste components that are composted to
produce organic manure.

“We also get small amounts of ash in the waste. While we have been able to collect just 200
gm of ash till now, we plan to convert it into fly ash bricks once we have the required
quantity. As for the filter, we plan to use it for making the stuffing for toys and cushions,
other than packaging and building material. In the long run, we also plan to research and
use the filter for manufacturing air purifiers,” says Naman, adding that the treated filter is
99.9% safe for use. “We treat the filters with our chemicals and get the end product
checked in labs approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) before it can be used as
a stuffing material.”
Customers have an option to select packages worth Rs. 199 for a year or they can buy for three
months that costs Rs.99 in which they receive the bin and there will be a guaranteed pickup
service every 15 days. The bin is a stainless steel vessel used to make the collection in an easy
manner.

The main office is located in Noida, The company Code currently serves over 70 people. Out of
70, 50 are vendors.
The shopkeepers place the bins outside their shops and encourage buyers to dispose of cigarette
butts in them. A few corporate companies have also employed their services. Once they have
collected enough waste, Naman and Vishal will start selling these by-products like manure
and fly ash, which will help them take the idea forward.
Vishal (25) is an engineer by profession and has also worked as a professional photographer for
about two years. Naman is a graduate from Delhi University. They are equally enthusiastic
about environment conservation.

What experts speaks:

According to reports, “cigarette butts are the most littered item globally, with more than 100
billion cigarette butts being dumped in India every year. Just the city of Bengaluru suffers
from a burden of around 31 lakh littered cigarette butts every day”.
With potential hazards that can harm the environment it is a welcome relief that someone is
working towards a solution. “It is just the start. Code is just about four months old. But
conserving the environment is the most important thing at the end of the day. And we are
doing our best for that,” Naman says.

Trump showers praise on Modi

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday praised on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and
the Indian people on Twitter, his response to the Indian government making necessary steps to
export anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine. This drug would be a game-changer in the battle
against COVID-19 pandemic.

Trump tweeted by thanking India fro lifting the export restrictions on the drugs and has praised
Modi for his decision.
He tweeted:
“Extraordinary times require even closer cooperation between friends. Thank you India
and the Indian people for the decision on HCQ. Will not be forgotten! Thank you Prime
Minister @NarendraModi for your strong leadership in helping not just India, but
humanity, in this fight!,”
He gave an interview for a TV channel where he expressed that:

“I asked him (PM Modi) if he would release it? He was great. He was really good. You
know they put a stop because they wanted it for India. But there is a lot of good things
coming from that. Lot of people looking at it and saying, you know I don’t hear bad
stories, I hear good stories. And I don’t hear anything where it was causing death,”

We should be proud that We are the world’s largest manufacturer of hydroxychloroquine,

producing nearly 70 percent of the world’s supply. The demand for the drug, which is also used
by patients of rheumatoid arthritis, was boosted after a small clinical trial in China demonstrated
that the anti-malarial drug shortened the duration and reduced the severity of cough, fever and
pneumonia in patients with mild and moderate disease.

On March 25th India banned the export of hydroxychloroquine and any formulation. Last week
the ban was expanded to cover exports from special economic zones, blocking pending orders
including from the US.

The US President requested PM Modi to lift the restriction of exporting the drugs on Saturday.
The same day, PM Modi received phone calls from Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro as
well. Reports says that we received requests from 20 countries to lift the restriction on drug
export.

On Monday, a committee of bureaucrats which looked into the issue decided to cancel the
restriction placed on Saturday by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade and asked the
department of pharmaceuticals decide.

India’s National Taskforce for Covid-19 only recommends: The use of hydroxychloroquine for
infections among “asymptomatic healthcare workers involved in the care of suspected or
confirmed cases of Covid-19” and “asymptomatic household contacts of laboratory
confirmed cases”.

The Indian Council of Medical Research says hydroxychloroquine has been very effective
against coronavirus in laboratory studies and in-vivo studies. “Its use in prophylaxis is derived
from available evidence of benefit as treatment and supported by pre-clinical data.”

One person who is infected with coronavirus can infect 406 others in just 30 days within the
absence of a lockdown and social distancing measures, however, this will come down to 2.5
people with a 75% reduction in a social gathering or social exposure. This is the latest research
carried out by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) exhibits.

“If one person does not follow lockdown and social distancing norms, he can infect 406
people in 30 days. However, if social exposure is reduced by 75%, then the same infected
person can spread it to just 2.5 people,”Lav Agarwal, joint secretary within the well-being
ministry, mentioned on Tuesday.

“It is, therefore, our appeal to all of you to follow the lockdown and social distancing
measures. We should understand that this is a very important intervention in the
management of COVID-19,”Agarwal added, citing the research to underline the significance
of observing the nationwide lockdown.

The present situation states that the number of individuals to whom an infected person can
spread the illness is between 1.5 to 4 for COVID-19, Agarwal mentioned and added that Union
well-being minister Harsh Vardhan was proper in stating that “social distancing is social

India to cure COVID-19 patients with

Ayurvedic Treatment

Union AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik has expressed his confidence that COVID-19 can be
treated with Ayurveda, adding that in the absence of scientific validation the ancient Indian
Ayurvedic medicine has only been used as a preventive measure during the outbreak of the
contagious virus.

He additionally reasserted his controversial claim that Prince Charles was cured of COVID-19
with Ayurvedic treatment and added that the heir to the British crown is denying it because
Ayurveda is not accepted in the West.

Mr. Naik had earlier said that a Bengaluru-based practitioner had treated Prince Charles.

As we have told earlier Prince Charles has denied because Ayurveda is not recognized and
accepted in the country, Mr. Naik said in an interview with news agency PTI.

It is quite natural for him to refuse. He said that:“He is Hundred and one percent sure that the
Price got cured because of Ayurveda. He did not say if there was a specific Ayurvedic
medicine that purportedly cured Prince Charles or if he benefited from a holistic
Ayurvedic approach”.
Mr. Naik said that once scientific validation of some Ayurveda formula is done, the country
would be ready to treat COVID-19 patients with it.

He continued by saying that when other medicines that belong to Allopathy has failed, we have
a solution to treat COVID-19 through Ayurveda.

The minister also hinted at the usage of Ayurveda as an effective medicine to treat novel
coronavirus in the country.

Naik said that his ministry is following up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the
ancient Ayurveda has a solution for coronavirus, which is not offered by other streams.

We are constantly been asked for the scientific validation of the Ayurvedic Formula and it is
important to note that the scientific validation of Ayurveda has been done thousands of years
back. It is a medicine that has been passed on from one generation to another.

Scientists and pharma companies all over the world are working hard to create the first
vaccine or first cure for the disease.

“The Central Government will have to notify the Ayurveda formula to treat coronavirus.
We have put up our claim before the PM after which he has acted and a task force has
been formed,”he said.

The Coronavirus SARS-CoV2 does not attack the immune system but it attacks the respiratory
system, leading to the contagious disease. However, most of the damage in COVID-19 disease is
caused by the immune system, where we can see that the immune system put up a massive
defense to stop the virus from spreading. In the process, millions of immune system cells attack
the virus and infected lung tissues but end up wreaking havoc on the entire lung.
This leads to shortness of breath, dry cough, and other complications, leading to in some cases
death.

The minister added that there is 60 to 70 percent control on the spread of coronavirus in
India due to home remedies that are prescribed in Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani.

"Lakhs of people are currently taking advantage of it, he said. But he provided no details
of where the people are benefiting from the Ayurveda cure or if any hospitals are running
regulated programs in this regard. India is the only example where this virus has been
controlled. We have already issued advisory to the people on does and dont's,"he said.

COVID 19 - Nurse call on the public to stay

Today, we all are fighting against COVID-19 to make our nation safe. Everybody is self-
quarantining themselves.

Have you ever realized how our Doctors and Nurses are surviving this great Pandemic? Do
you know they are more susceptible to the infection as they are treating the patients with utmost
care? Here is the message of a nurse let's just go through it what she has said;
Soon after the outbreak of COVID -19, She was sure that she will be on duty to take care of the
patients who have been infected with the virus. She ensured that her sons are in the safer hands
and as she left her home the only thing that she could say to her husband was 'Bye'. She was
very scared of infecting her family members so she took a stern decision to stay in the hospital
an take care of the patients in a better way.

In her words, she says: “It’s been tough. We’re dealing with so many patients every day;
which we do with a smile on our face, but sometimes we have to face disheartening
situations”.

There was a patient, the Head Chef in a famous Restaurant who threw the food which we served
him; he screamed saying: “your cook doesn’t know how to cook, what have you served me?
This is terrible!’

We didn't know what to say to that patient as we cannot provide 5-star meals but we did our best
to care for everyone. Some people have expressed their thankfulness to us.

Later, after a couple of days there comes an old man with a headache and he fears that he has
been infected with the virus but thankfully he was tested negative. We calmed him down and
made him realize that it is due to the stress that he suffered from a headache. The old man
thanked us for taking good care of him.

And do you know one thing: This is the daily activity we do every day. “It's been days that we
have seen our families”.

We find solace when we see each other during our Lunch Break time and one day a nurse burst
out into tears as she missed her baby.

After everything came to an end we are finally back at home. The nurse said: “I was
welcomed into my neighbourhood with cheers.”

But things are not the same for everybody, the colleague who worked with us was not
allowed to enter into the society as people thought that he might be infected with the virus,
that was a terrible moment and a realization came that when in such a crisis it is WE who are
there to take care of them and at the same time there is a sense of feeling where this is a
thankless job. Even after going through such kind of humiliation, still, he was back at work and
was ready to take care of the patients by providing full care. This shows our obligation to our
duty and this is what we do.

The nurse said one final thing that is: “if you continue to stay at home– please… just stay
at home.”

In the wake of COVID-19 our government declared 21 day Lockdown to fight against the
Coronavirus by staying at home and self-isolating along with Social Distancing.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Monday said he will appeal to Prime
Minister Narendra Modi to extend COVID-19 lockdown. The 21-day lockdown to check the
spread of coronavirus in the country came into effect on March 25 and is set to end on April 14.
But chief minister Rao cautioned that if the lockdown is lifted it could cost lives.

He said in a press meet that: “It is true that the country’s economy has taken a beating
during the lockdown period. Telangana, too, suffered heavily – our revenue was just Rs 6
crore in the last six days, against the expected revenue of Rs 2,500 crore. But we can
always revive the economy once this crisis is over, but we cannot bring back the lives of the
people who could die in large numbers, if the lockdown is lifted.”

He continued by saying that it will be very difficult to control the people if the lockdown is
lifted.

“All the efforts we had put in all these days, braving financial loss, would go waste, if
situation comes back to square one due to the lockdown being eased,” Rao said.

The Telengana CM sais that only because of the Lockdown the country is saved and has few
cases. He continued by saying that our country was cautious otherwise it will become
uncontrollable like Italy. Of course the Economy will be depleting but on the other hand we are
not seeing deaths like Italy, Spain and USA.
He appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the Curbs be extended for two more
weeks

“At least some of the restrictions should stay for a bit more. Otherwise, India will not be
able to handle things if the lockdown is hastily lifted,” he said.
Telangana has so far recorded 334 positive cases. Thirty three of them have recovered while
there have been 11 casualties.

Electricity came a century ago.Lamps and Deepas are there since the beginning of time.

What is so special about deepa or a lamp?

Each lamp is separate. It is not connected with another by wire or current. It is separate.
Cotton is scared of fire. Oil is scared of fire. They are enemies. Yet, together, they light the
whole house. This is the union of three different things to bring brightness.

Similarly, India is a land of diverse cultures now. There are antagonists who hate India, who
want to spread the virus to kill others. There are medical professionals and police and a million
others who are working day and night to give health to all.

There are media people who are busy spreading hate news.
All these together, will light the nation, bring courage and hope, and will spread goodwill.
This is the idea.

They say, whatever happens is finally for good. Lockdown of India by the great Modiji was the
quickest. To bring back thousands stranded in affected countries, quickly processing visa etc,
and providing necessities to the 1.3 billion people...enormous task. All was well and the number
of infections was so low.

THE EVIL MINDED SNAKES DESTROY PLANS

Snakes came out quickly. Nizamuddin and Lakhs being driven out of Delhi happened in the
earliest part of the horrible time.

LAMP LIT, HEALTH WELCOMED.

The Nizamuddin etc, the licking and sptting etc, are all terrible. But it also has one good point.
Snakes and their evil intentions have been exposed at the very beginning. Suppose you did not
know about these snakes. You would have bought the infected fruits, you would have embraced
them, your innocent children would have picked up infected notes. Now you know who is who,
what is what. No need to think terrorists are with guns anymore. India knows. And India acted
quickly too.
More than 2000 buses, food, money to lakhs on the one hand, catching infected snakes in this
huge population on the other hand. All done. Extremely speedy action, quarantining all snakes,
and the country is now save. All is under control.

A NEW BEGINNING.
Lighting of the lamps now is the new beginning. Of health and happiness. Of peace and joy.
And snakes or viruses will never succeed.

Millions of jobs at risk in post-corona India

The outbreak of Coronavirus has disrupted the job market as the nation goes into a complete
lockdown for 21 days. This has increased the fear of large scale unemployment across the entire
country.
According to the recent estimates by the National Sample Survey (NSS) and Periodic Labour
Force Surveys nearly 136 million jobs are on the line. Passing by the unemployment rate before
the Coronavirus hit the economy. India needs to add about 10 million occupations to keep the
working age population employed.

Sabina Dewan, the president and executive director of the think-tank JustJobs Network told:
“The implications of this crisis will be dire. We will inevitably have less fiscal space to
make much-needed investments in, for example, education, skills, preventative healthcare,
and infrastructure. This will not just prevent us from moving forward but will set us back.
Our large and growing youth population will be further disenfranchised, potentially
spurring social discord, crime, and instability."

This is going to affect the economy, contract workers, small business and also those employed
without a legal contract such as casual labourers — who do not have a fixed take home salary.
Over five million Indians have contract jobs which are less than a year in tenure.
The Tourism Industry are the worst hit sectors after the Covid-19 attack. Most of the
countries asked employees to pause travel plans as the borders are closed. Even hotel rooms
remained empty all this while.
It is said that over 20 million jobs may be lost if the business doesn't bounce back by October,
says the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

From food products to electronic gadgets to cement and ceramics, nearly nine millions of job
may be affected in the manufacturing industry.
Pankaj Mohindroo, chairman of the Indian Cellular & Electronic Association of India (ICEA)
told: “At present, we have a turnover of ?500 crore to ?700 crore per day. So, a shutdown
for about three weeks essentially means a loss ranging between ?10,000 crore and ?15,000
crore,”

As per the present statistics the handset manufacturing industry is deep in losses at Rs.15,000
crore mainly because of the production delay.
Moving to transport industry mainly Airlines, It is the worst affected sector as both domestic
and international travel has come to a standstill. As per the recent estimates nearly 600,000
contractual workers are at risk of losing their jobs, especially those in on-ground and support
roles.

Kapil Kaul, chief executive for aviation consultancy CAPA India told: “Indigo, India’s largest
airline, has reported a 15-20% decline in daily bookings over the past few days, compared
with the week-ago period, and expects its quarterly earnings to be materially impacted.”
IndiGo, GoAir and Spicejet have already decreased the employee salaries across roles for the
month of March including the chairman.

On the other hand, telecom, healthcare are the sectors least affected by the global pandemic.

The telecom sector seems to be rebounding as most of India is working from home during the
lockdown, thereby availing more data services. With more people practising social distancing,
the data usage is expected to surge by up to 15% in India.

While healthcare is at the forefront of battling the Coronavirus infections. The public health
emergency has led to the country prioritising in-house manufacturing of pharmaceutical
ingredients after Coronavirus disrupted the global supply chains leading to shortage of medical
drugs, face masks, ventilators and more. India said it will spend $1.3 billion for
pharmaceuticals.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message on Friday urging people to switch off lights at
their homes and light lamps, candles or turn on mobile phone torches for nine minutes on April
5 was supported by many celebrities. Soon after the prime minister's message was broadcasted
asking people to participate in the exercise on Sunday 9 PM, people began to express their
opinions on it and tweets with the "9 baje 9 minute" hashtag began trending.
Dia Mirza, appointed as UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador for India, took to her Twitter
handle to share that it is a good initiative as 'ecological balance is key to stop the spread of
such viruses to reduce inequalities'. Comparing PM Modi's initiative to Earth Hour, Dia Mirza
stressed on the importance of 'One People. One Planet'.
Mirza has been actively creating awareness about coronavirus on her social media handles.
When PM Modi announced the 21-day lockdown, Dia said, "As a citizen of a developing
nation that has #LockedDown for 21days, witnessing the efforts being made every day to
keep people safe, the enormous task of managing this human crisis, i truly hope that
countries come together and help each other. That humanity truly shines." [sic]

In a video message of over 11 minutes, Modi also asked people to maintain the "lakshman
rekha" of social distancing by staying indoors and not getting together in groups during the
exercise.
This message was apparently aimed at ensuring that there is no repeat of March 22 evening
when people assembled in large numbers in many parts of the country to ring bells or bang
utensils to show their gratitude to those working on the frontlines during the crisis.
Bollywood celebrities came out in support of Modi's 9 PM 9 minute call. Arjun Kapoor,
Shekhar Ravjiani, Manushi Chhillar, Swanand Kirkire and others tweeted in response to
PM's video message.

It is nothing but the ninth day of the 21-day nationwide lockdown, Modi said the discipline and
spirit of service displayed by people during this period were unprecedented.
"The way people thanked everyone fighting against coronavirus on March 22 has become
an example for many countries to follow," he said.

It has helped the country realise its collective strength and that the nation can fight
coronavirus collectively, he said.

India urges to the lockdown of 21 days of 1.3 billion people for keeping them safe away from
COVID-19 which is been spreading rapidly in the past few months around the world. The
government has taken this step of lockdown by providing essential commodities.

But due to lockdown, there is been a shortage of labor which has affected most labor-based
companies such as leaving the Bharat Petroleum Corp to shut down the operations.
Due to a shortage of manpower and material has bought Indian Bharat Petroleum Corp to the
shutdown down secondary units of Kochi and Mumbai.

Ramachandran, Head of Refineries states that at this point of time, they are not having the
capital to take any shutdowns because there will be no manpower and shortage of materials, so
will be reviewing the shutdown plans based upon the situation in the month of April.

The BPCL has plans to shut the vacuum gasoil de-sulphurize at 310,000 BPD Kochi refinery
and continuous catalytic cracker which has 240,000 barrels per day (BPD) in the Mumbai
refinery and including the other units for two to three weeks in the month of April.

As of lockdown, the migrant workers are stuck in the cities and couldn’t rush to book tickets to
their villages and the farmers worried, if so their upcoming harvest would fail to reach the
people who depend on their crops for survival.

As per the economics professor at the Institute of Social Sciences in New Delhi, this is the worst
situation than war and if so we are not able to provide the essentials to the bottom 50% people
this would lead to a social revolt.

And the laborers who have not been into the work these days due to the COVID-19 have bought
them to worry, how to feed their children and run their houses as before. Most of the people in
India have still not understood what exactly is going on.
The upper-class people are suffering due to their heavy losses and whereas the other people are
suffering due to the shortage of their daily wages. But still, though we should appreciate and
stand along with our Government for coming up with the lockdown for the safety of the
society.

TO CLAP OR NOT TO CLAP

An extraordinary sacred event took place in Bharata on 22 March 2020 at 5 p.m. local time.
History was created.
Millions upon millions stood at their doors and windows and clapped, blew conches, played drums
and bells. It was an extraordinary event. Why? To show unity, determination to overcome all
dangers, spread POSITIVE energy, and to thank those dedicated people who are risking their
lives to make other lives better. The sentiment was extremely noble and was suggested by the
commander-in-chief of the nation.
What happens if you make a sound? PLEASE REMEMBER; WE HAVE NOT EVEN TOUCHED
THE MANTRA DIMENSION. This is just about the physical vibrations.

1. WAR AND SOUND: Throughout human history, in all wars, we have seen sound being the first
weapon used before the war. Drums and bugles and conches and shouts. The united thunder of the
sound waves sinks the hearts of enemies. REMEMBER: WEAKNESS IS THE SOURCE OF ALL
ILLNESS. There can be 100 bacteria, but the weak body and mind will catch it. SO, SOUND
BRINGS STRENGTH.

2. KRISHNA'S CONCH: Panchajanya of Hrishikesha, Devadatta of Dhanjaya were little conches

[shankhas]. In the tumult of 10000 elephants and horses and a million soldiers, what could they do?
Yet, conches were blown, bugles were blown, kettle drums were beaten. Why? This sound creates
unity, unity brings strength, strength brings courage and power.

3. DROPLETS OF COUGH AND SNEEZE IN AIR. Viruses are transmitted from person to person
when tiny droplets are touched. and we know this. These viruses, then, are in the air, on metal, on
cardboard, on everything.

4. BRIDGES BREAK FROM SOUND: Metal, cardboard, cement, etc may be strong but sound can
break them. Soldiers walking rhythmically on a bridge may swing the bridge. If metal and cement
can show this property, what about watery molecules?

5. CYMATICS SAYS WATER response TO SOUND. Make sound near water and it shows
vibrations.

6. SOUNDWAVES, VIRUSES, ALL NEED A MEDIUM TO FLOAT: AIR. Whether or not viruses live
long in the air, but they need a medium to move. Sound waves need a medium. Air.

7. ULTRA-SOUND KILLS BACTERIA is a well-known scientific knowledge today.

THUS, SOUND can affect the viruses tremendously. The mere act of clapping and playing sacred
bells and conches causes tremendous ripples of sound waves all around. Apart from bringing
courage, hope, positive thoughts, energy, power and unity of purpose, sound also destroys
negative energies around.

MAHARANA PRATAP

 2020-03-25 23:01:44  by Sunirmalananda Swami

HE THOUGHT HE WAS SHEEP BUT WAS REMINDED HE WAS A LION
The glorious lion of Mewar, Rana Pratap, was on his deathbed. Rajput chiefs stood all around
him. Rana was worried.
For over 500 long years, Mewar had stood proud and independent, thanks to Rajput warriors.
Historians never cared to record the names of all those great heroes who had made this possible.
Those Rajput heroes were personifications of valor and courage. Their bodies were full of wounds
of battles for the country.
That evening, as he was dying, Rana Pratap was extremely worried. The Sawant of Salumbar
asked the Rana: “What bothers you so much, o Rana?” Rana replied: “My soul lingers for some
pledge that my country shall never be surrendered to the foreigner.”
He wanted a pledge because he was concerned. One day, he had taken his son Amar Singh to
show the huts he had built for the family in case they lost the war and everything. Amar Singh had
lived only in the palace. He had not lived in a hut. So he was annoyed when the low hut knocked
down his turban. Rana Pratap had become worried since then. He had thought that his successor
wasn’t as brave and courageous to protect Mewar, and as ready to suffer and struggle. After the
Rana died, Amar Singh became King of Mewar in 1597.

True to Rana Pratap’s worries, Amar Singh was not happy with the idea of war. And he had some
friends, who constantly poured negative ideas into his ears: “What is the use of wars? We have
fought enough. Let us surrender to the Delhi Sultans and live in peace…” He had not understood
that it was the sacred duty of a kshatriya to save his land from enemies.
During his time, Rana Pratap had smothered Akbar completely and so he never dared to attack
Mewar again. But Jahangir tried now and news came that Jahangir’s huge army was arriving.

Rana Amar Singh’s “friends” began weeping false tears about his welfare. They brainwashed him to
believe that saving his land was useless.
The elderly Rajput warriors came to the palace. They wanted instructions to start for the battlefield.
But they saw Amar Singh sitting without any enthusiasm. All were surprised. They argued, waited,
and no, the Rana will not declare war.
Then something happened. The elderly Sawant of Salumbar—a great patriot and a lion on the
battlefield—stood up. He spoke about the glory of Rajput heroes, of Mewar, of Rana Pratap. Yet,
Rana Amar Singh sat quietly, without any enthusiasm.
Seeing the Rana unmoving, the elderly Sawant of Salumbar struck a huge mirror in the hall with
tremendous force. The mirror broke into pieces. All were stunned. Next, he went to the throne and
pulled the Rana from the throne. And he shouted: “Come on, warriors! Sit on your horses! Let’s go!”
He forced Amar Singh onto his horse. Rana Amar Singh called the Sawant a traitor but he did not
heed.

They all rode to the battlefield. As they rode to the battlefield, a transformation came in Amar
Singh’s mind. He wept and wept…over his cowardice, over his shameful behavior. He then begged
the pardon of all the great warriors. They had understood his mind, especially the Sawant of
Salumbar.
And there was war. Jahangir’s army was routed. They had won!
Jahangir came a second time in 1610 and once again he was defeated by the Rajputs. Only
towards the end of his life, Rana Amar had to succumb to the pressure of Delhi sultanate and lost

CHAIT SINGH, A LION OF INDIA

This is the story of a great lion of India, who fought the British.

VARANASI: SHIVA'S LAND

Varanasi was a huge city in very ancient times. Millions of sadhakas lived and visited the holy land
and the residence of Shiva, It was also called Kashi and Kashi Raja was mentioned even in the
Bhagavadgita. Later, the city grew less and less in power, and under the Mughals, it was just a
small tributary.
As the Mughal power and influence declined, Varanasi began to become powerful again. A
zamindar by name Balwant Singh [1710 to 1770] became the first Raja of Varanasi. However,
Balwant Singh had no independence, He was under the Nawab of Awadh [Oudh], which meant
paying tributes, which meant heavy taxation. The Nawab of Awadh was not free either. The East
India Company had grown powerful after the Mughals and demanded money from him. He would
take money from Varanasi and hand over to the British East India Company. Tired of this giving
away money, Raja Balwant Singh died in 1770.

THE LION OF VARANASI

Balwant's son, Chait Singh, became the King of Varanasi. He did not care for the British or the
Nawab. He did not like to give away the wealth of Varanasi to the British. So he paid as little as
possible, and finally, stopped paying.
Warren Hastings took control of the East India Company and told Chait Singh: "Give me 50 lakhs
[five million rupees, which was equal in those days to 5 million pounds] and also bear all the
expenses of my war in India with different rajas" That was too much. This meant that Warren
Hastings was looting Varanasi, the holiest city of Hindus. Five million rupees plus millions as
expenses of soldiers. And this would continue.

RAJA CHAIT SINGH had no great army. So he went to Warren Hastings. He bowed down and put
his crown on the lap of Warren Hastings. Through a translator, he said that the demand was too
much, and he should lessen it. Hastings was adamant. He said: "Capture this raja and put him in
jail." So, Chait Singh was captured.

THE LION ESCAPES

And the lion in Chait Singh roared. Singlehandedly, without even a sword, Chait Singh fought all the
prison guards and killed them. This is an amazing part of the story. Then, using his clothes and
turban, he made a rope. He jumped into Mother Ganga and escaped. The lion, to save millions of
dollars of Hindu money, had escaped.
A manhunt was launched. In disguise, Chait Singh went to different small rajas and sought their
help: "Let us unite and drive away from the angrez." Nobody was ready. No one listened to Chait
Singh. So, Chait Singh himself managed a small army and fought valiantly against the British.
Unfortunately, he failed. .Chait Singh was disgraced, and his nephew, Mahipa Narayan Singh, a
puppet of the British, was made king.
Chait Singh had nowhere to go, no powers. Therefore he went to Gwalior, lived an unrecognized,
sad life and died on 29 March 1810. He left three sons.
This is the story of yet another Shivaji of India.

Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa was in New Delhi in those days. A new branch of Bank of India had opened in
Hauz Khas. The Manager and Accountant of that bank came to Dr. Bhyrappa. "Please open an
account in our bank, however small. This will help us." Bhyrappa said he already had an account
elsewhere, but agreed, seeing the sincerity of the two.
Dr. Bhyrappa thought that he had seen the Accountant somewhere, but couldn't place him. Anyway,
the services of the manager and accountant were exemplary. The accountant would go to the poor,
coolies, etc and help them open accounts. He worked very hard. He worked day and night.
One day, Dr. Bhyrappa went to the Hauz Khas bank to withdraw some money. It was at 10 a.m.
There was a little queue already. The keys of the treasury are with the manager and accountant.
The manager was there but the accountant had not yet arrived. The Manager said: "His bus is late.
Otherwise, he is absolutely punctual." Within a few minutes, the accountant came running,
apologizing repeatedly: "On the way, my bus broke. I had to wait for another bus. I am sorry."
Everyone was amazed at his humility.
Dr. Bhyrappa asked the Manager: "What is the accountant's name?"
The manager replied: "Oh, don't you know? He is Lal Bahadur Shastriji's son."
Dr. Bhyrappa came back to the bank that afternoon. He sat before the Accountant. "Why do you
travel by bus? You work so hard. Buy a scooter."
The accountant smiled and said, "I have applied for a scooter loan. But it takes time to be
sanctioned. Surely I shall have a scooter soon."
DR S.L BHYRAPPA wrote this incident in his book, BHITTI.[kannada, p. 492]

Mukesh Ambani Indian business tycoon is no longer Asia’s richest man. He has lost his title after
oil prices collapsed along with global stocks.

The fear that the spread of the coronavirus will thrust the world into a recession bought him to No. 2
on the list of Asia’s richest people by erasing $5.8 billion from Ambani’s net worth on Monday.

The Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. founder who was the No. 1 ranking in the year 2018 is now back
again to his first position with $44.5 billion fortune which is $2.6 billion more than Ambani.

As the people are shelving their travel plans due to the outbreak of coronavirus, oil prices have
reached their lowest levels in several years. This has created a huge effect on the share price of
Reliance Industries, Ambani's oil-to-telecom conglomerate, which runs the world’s biggest refining
complex in Gujarat.

The Reliance Industries have come across the biggest fall in the last 12 years during the price
war between Saudi Arabia and Russia, all due to the fear of spreading the coronavirus. The scrip
got closed at 12.35 percent at Rs 1113.15, after reaching a low of Rs 1,094.95 on Monday.

The company also lost the fall down of its capital of Rs 7.06 crore, yielding the top spot for the Tata
Consultancy Services (TCS), a valuable company that had lost the market of Rs 7.40 lakh crore.

Saudi Arabia has cut a wide on official selling prices for oil and announced to upscale the crude oil
production from the next month as Russia did not support the 1.5 million daily barrels production cut
which was proposed last week by the organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

India has worthed a deal of USD 40 million by beating Russia and Poland firms to supply four
indigenous weapon locating radars to Armenia.
The deal is to supply the weapons to Armenia in Europe which are manufactured by Bharat
Electronics Limited (BEL) and developed by the Defence Research and Development
Organisation (DRDO)

This is considered a big achievement for the ‘Make In India’ program in the defense sector, and the
supply of the equipment is also been started.

Though the trails conducted by Russia and Poland were good Armenians decided to go for the
reliable Indian system.

The contract is for four Swathi weapons which locate radar within 50 Km range which are fast,
automatic and provide accurate location of enemy weapons like rockets, shells, and mortars.

The radar can simultaneously handle multiple projectiles fired from weapons at different locations.
The Indian Army is also using the same radars for its operations at the line of control in Jammu
and Kashmir where they source the attack by opposing positions. This system was given for trail in
2018.
This export order has brought India to a new market for the sale of its indigenous systems, which
are cheaper than their European and other rivals. The Defence Ministry is also looking at orders
which are a target of Rs 35,000 crore from Latin America, South-East Asia and Middle-East
countries for boosting defense exports has been set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Rishikesh CS, who was a high school dropout, who had an interest in technology but he never could
find out studying pre-university is worth It.

Rishikesh was from a hometown that witnessed many board tragedies and mishaps. There were
many such tragedies that took place in his neighborhood when a boat capsized. To overcome this
problem all he did was, he developed a detecting sensor and placed it at the bottom of the boat
so that he could know the water level and send out wireless signals.he made this in the year 2002.

But after 10 years, he came across another issue that is a disaster, which is known by the
government only if such any to occur and people had to wait for the alert to be given by the
government which would be late.

So he tried to build up a vibrating device that could be used by ordinary people. Though this could
not prevent people from the disaster. But help people to evacuate them before its too late.

However, the innovation bought the whole nation’s attention was inspired by another tragedy that
took place.

Another incidence that took place was the sudden death of a friend as he was a lineman in the
state electricity board due to electric shock while working on a 220V line left him at aghast. This
incident made him thought of another device.
It was then he thought of making a device that could prevent incidents in the future. As we know
that small testers are used to detect whether the electric current is passing directly to the human
body.

Rishikesh has come up with an electricity sensing device, which is a wireless device, compact,
portable and light in weight. This device can sense electric current up to 11KV from 11 meters
away from the ground. It can also check electricity in wires and concealed transformers too.

A beep sound will warn you, whether a damaged electricity line still has power running through It.

For this innovation, he was awarded a National Innovation Foundation award in 2015, by the
President Pranab Mukherjee.
This award is given to the original innovators at the grassroots, who don’t have any higher
educational qualifications.

There was more to come, later after 2years he also invented a wireless transmitting device, that
could relay information of a train passing by every five seconds based on the signals it receives
from the train.

His innovations addressed a major public that had bought up a great safety concern for the ordinary
public.

Karnataka's regulatory sandbox- a controlled environment can be used to test disruptive
technology, product, and services. It will be open to the innovators across the country.

Taking advantage of the sandbox where the government claims are the first pan-sector initiative. It
is important to note that innovators must-have business or operations in the state. The Karnataka
Innovation Authority Bill, which the government has presented in the legislature.

According to the Bill, participating in the Sandbox who carries on business or has a registered office
in Karnataka.

The Product, as well as the services, tested in the regulatory sandbox should be a regular
innovation. This would be beneficial for the consumers in Karnataka as well as generating more
employment opportunities.

Karnataka has had its share of a regulatory tussle with disruptive technology. If we take an example
of the transport sector, carpooling and shuttle services are restricted under the motor vehicle rules.

It is seen that everybody is trying to attract innovation, which along with technology brings more
benefits. If one innovation comes out with flying colors others will mushroom out.
Sandbox is established in two ways:

Based on Application KIA receives from innovators seeking a sandbox after determining the
feasibility.
KIA itself setting up a sandbox.

Once the Sandbox becomes successful, it is important to bring a new law to do away with the
regulatory barrier.

The KIA would be taken into consideration when the legislature session resumes on March 2nd.

reportedly discovered.

On Friday, UP Governments Geology Department and Mining Department confirmed that around
3,000 tonnes of gold reserves have been found in Uttar Pradesh's Sonbhadra district.

On Saturday, the Geological Survey of India there has been no discovery of a gold deposit of 3000
tonnes in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh.

The report says that the Sonbhadra gold deposits are almost five times India's present gold
reserves.

As per the report of the mining officer Son, Pahadi and Hardi areas of Sonbhadra hold deposits of
gold.
According to the report of Times of India, the latest discovery of gold reserves in Sonbhadra will
make India in the 2nd Position in the world.

After the Department of Geology and Mining confirmed that "India will now have the world's 2nd
largest gold reserves."

The efforts of finding Gold mines in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh began almost two-decade
back ago in 1992-93.

It is said that the gold that has been found out was 108 hectares. The state government has
quickened the process of leasing these mines. The process of geotagging has been started before
the auction process. Demarcation work is completed when the E-tendering is done.

The geophysical survey is underway by helicopter in many parts of the district. For the survey
process, devices like Electromagnetic and Spectrometer are used. This survey equipment hangs
under the helicopter which conducts the flying survey data at an altitude of 60-80 meters above the
ground surface.

But now surprising everybody the Geological Survey of India has now issued that no such recent
discovery had been made, with the last survey being carried out as far back in 1999 which
discovered 160 kg of gold, not 3,350 tonnes.

Fake news and hoaxes might have become commonplace thanks to social media and the internet,
but in the end, It is important to believe what we want to believe.

Bhutan has made a decision in restricting free entry to Indian Tourists who are visiting Bhutan.
The Bhutan Government has made a strong decision to levy a fee for Rs.1,200 fee for the tourists
coming from India. These strategies are also going to be implemented in Maldives and Bangladesh
by July 2020. The fee is nothing but Sustainable Development Fee which is going to help the
government in controlling the number of Tourist Traffic.
What the government says is that it is the new way of regulating the new tourism policy. The new
decision was passed by the Government on Tuesday as a ‘Tourism Levy and Exemption Bill of
Bhutan’, 2020. As per the statistics, Indian Tourists travel more to the developed Western regions
of Bhutan.

To promote tourism in Bhutan they have implemented Sustainable Development Fee for the tourist
visitors visiting 11 of 20 total districts that fall in the east from Trongsa to Trashigang. Children from
India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives who are under the age of 5 need not have to pay the fee and
those between 6 and 12 have to pay around Rs.600.

The Bhutan Tourism Council Director Dorji Dhradul said that the Sustainable Development Fee
will provide a better facility to the tourist who is visiting the place. This has raised much confusion
wherein the Bhutanese government has assured that tourists from India would not be an
inconvenience with the new regulations.

The Kannada language is also known as Kanarese or Kannana. It is considered to be one of the
oldest languages in India. Kannada is also one of the Dravidian languages.

It is the official language of the state Karnataka. About 33 million people in Karnataka speak
Kannada and research also says that about 11 million Indians may speak Kannada as a second
language. The earliest records of the Kannada language was found from the 6th century.

The Kannada language is almost 2500 years old, and apparently, many of its words are adopted
from either Sanskrit, which was later modified by replacing ‘pa' with ‘ha'. Spoken Kannada tends to
vary from region to region, but it's written format is almost the same throughout Karnataka.

The Kannada language has forty –nine letters, and they are divided into 3 groups, which are:

Swaragalu (the vowels)

Vyanjanagalu (the consonants)
Yogavaahakagalu (they are two characters that are neither vowels nor consonants)

The Kannada language has undergone various modification, and it can be categorized into four
types, they are:

Purva Halegannada
Halegannada
Nadugannada
Hosagannada

Kavirajamarga is believed to be one of the oldest literary works in Kannada, it was a written work on
poetics, rhetoric, and grammar in Kannada. During the 11th century, the Kannada language has
experienced some trouble due to the invasion of Tamil kings.

For the sake of convenient study of Kannada language and its literature, the pundits have divided
the development of Kannada language into three phases,

The Old Kannada phase

The Middle Kannada phase
The Modern Kannada phase

It has been claimed that the Greek playwriters of the 5th-4th century BCE, particularly Euripides and
Aristophanes, appear to been familiar with the Kannada language and they had used Kannada
phrases and expressions in the dialogues of their characters in dramas and scripts.

Kannada is considered to be the third oldest language in the world, and it is said to be 99.99%
perfect, both logically and scientifically. Kannada has won about 8 Jnanpith Awards, and it is
considered to be one of the most prestigious literary award given by the Government of India.

At present, we can easily identify the three varieties of Kannada language. The southern varieties
are associated with the cities like Mysore and Bangalore, the northern variety is with the Hubli-
Dharwad and the coastal is with the Mangalore.

Deepavali is known as the "festival of lights" which is considered as the biggest festival in India. The
festival usually comes between October or November, with the date changing each year.

The festival gets its name from the word Deepa which denotes "light" and awali which denotes
"row". People celebrate Deepavali with lights, which represents the victory of good over evil.

Over the centuries, Deepavali is celebrated as the national festival in India which is also enjoyed by
non-Hindu communities. The common theme of Deepavali includes the lighting of candles and the
gathering of families.

All the government offices in India are closed on Deepavali. Stores and other organizations may be
closed or have reduced their opening hours on that day. Transportations are usually unaffected
because many people travel to their native place during Deepavali.

Deepavali takes place on the day of the new moon when the sky is at its darkest, so the big part of
the celebration involves the lights like candles, clay lamps, and oil lanterns that are lit in front of the
homes and on streets. Another general theme of Deepavali is family wearing new clothes, and
getting together to pray for their ancestors and to celebrate with sweets and fireworks. Deepavali is
a 5 day-long festival that involves an immense amount of love and compassion.

Every lamp that we light in Deepavali is represented as good quality. Deepavali is considered as the
awakening of good qualities of a human being like love, strength, generosity, care, patience, and
much more.
Deepavali also means being in the present and living the moment by dropping all the regrets in the
past, and the worries in the future.

Deepavali also involves lots of eating, which involves traditional Indian sweets which come in a wide
range of colors and flavors and it also includes mini- samosas and puris. Families will mostly
prepare food from their homes to serve the guests and they will also give gifts to each other.

Every people try to make an effort to clean their homes and yards before Deepavali. People in
different regions in India celebrate Deepavali on various dates because the traditional lunar
calendars are read in different ways.

The rituals for Deepavali vary from region to region. However, the special blessings are given to the
Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh who are considered as the remover of obstacles.

Women empowerment- A better place to live

in.

We live in a so-called world were we say, there are equal rights for everyone. But even in this 20th
century, women still struggle to express their feelings, express their thoughts and even they are
afraid to raise their voice against the domestic violence happening to them.

Yup, I am going to talk about women empowerment, I know it's one of the most discussed topics
around the world but still we need to talk about it because even now, most women are not getting
their basic rights. We need to change it.
Women around the whole world have faced lots of struggles and have sacrificed lots of things in
history like child marriage, domestic violence, slavery, dowry, and even basic human rights. Even
today they are facing lots of inequalities and discriminations in their day to day life in both their
personal and social life.

The empowerment of women and their improvement in the social, economic and political field is
very important and it is even vital for sustainable development. The full partnership and full
participation between men and women are one of the basic requirements for a productive and
reproductive life.

Education is one of the most important methods for women empowerment, education helps to build
knowledge, skills, and self-confidence which are the most important things for a human being to live
a respectful and independent life. Women should also have equal opportunities in all fields and
moreover, they should be given equal pay, irrespective of their gender.

Not only from society, but women are also facing lots of problems in their personal life. This includes
domestic violence and toxic relationship. Domestic violence includes physical, mental and emotional
abuse. These abusive relationships and domestic violence could make a women's life into living
hell.

Many women are afraid to take action against domestic violence because of the fear of society and
the shame of divorce, Parents should teach their daughters that it is okay to be divorced rather than
being abused.

We all know the physical effects of domestic violence like the bruises, Red or purple marks on the
neck, bruises around the eye and much more, but they also bring a lot of mental effects like Post-
traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), nightmares, low esteem, depression and also severe anxiety.

So, the government should take measures to stop domestic violence and they also should ensure
that all women are getting equal rights and equal opportunities in all aspects of their life and they
also should take measures to stop gender inequality.

To conclude, the saddest part of our society is that there are still people out there, who think that
women are meant to be in the kitchen such attitude should be changed then only we can stop the
discrimination and the violence against women.

Ayodhya dispute

 2020-03-21 17:14:49  by Ramya Kashyap

 Share Post  Share on Facebook  Share on Twitter

The constitution bench of the supreme court led by the chief justice of India Ranjan Gogoi reserved
Ayodhya case judgment on 16th October 2019, after a long 40 days hearing on the cross-appeals
filed by Muslim and Hindu sides on the three-way partition of 2.77 acres of Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri
masjid land along with the Ram Lalla, Nirmohi Akhara and Sunni Waqf Board on September 2010.

Yeah, I am gonna talk about the famous Ayodhya dispute, before getting deep into this topic first we
should know what is this Ayodhya case about.

It all comes down to a piece of land in the city of Ayodhya at Uttar Pradesh. That land is considered
as the birthplace of Lord Rama by Hindus but that place also has a Babri mosque in it.

Now the question is whether the Hindu temple is demolished or modified to create that mosque?

According to the Hindus, the land which holds the Babri mosque was built in 1528 and is considered
as the birthplace of Lord Rama. But it is said that the Mir Baqi, one of the Mughal king Babur's
generals have destroyed a pre-existing temple and built a mosque on it called Babri Masjid.
Both the communities have been worshiping in the "mosque temple", Hindus outside the temple and
Muslims inside the temple.

In 1885, the first petition was filed by the head of Nirmohi Akhara asking for permission to offer
prayer inside the Babri masjid, but the permission was denied.

But in 1950 again a local resident Gopal Singh Visharad filed a petition in the civil court requesting
permission to offer prayer inside the Babri masjid where the idols of Lord Rama were installed and
the list goes on.

On 6th December 1992, a large group of activists from Vishwa Hindu Parishad along with the other
aligned organization demolished the Babri masjid. That demolition has turned into one of the violent
massacres that our nation has ever faced.

And later the Allahabad High Court released a verdict that the 2.77 acres land will be divided
between Hindus, Muslims and the Nirmohi Akhara, But this verdict was denied on 30th September
2010 by the Lucknow bench of High court.

Still, now the issue has not been solved.

On 6th August 2019, the hearing has begun for the Ayodhya dispute and it was sated as the longest
heard case nest to historic Kesavananda Bharathi case.

It is estimated that the judgment will be released by the court between November 4 to 17, since the
chief justice Gogoi is going to retire on November 17.

All we can do is, wait for the judgment.

Bhaskar Rao Takes action on ‘high alert’

memo leaked

Bengaluru city has seen tremendous growth in its population due to urban development and
employment opportunities.

Here is a weekend where plans did not go well for Bengaluru citizens following a “high alert” over
a probable terror menace after a memo from the Police Commissioner’s office on security measures
was leaked.

Regional news channels began the discussion on terror seditions, creating fear of insanity in the
city.

But senior police officials informed that “terror” reports as hypothetical and conveyed that there was
no threat to public safety.

Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao informed that the memo was an internal announcement on the
observance of city safety and not for the public. “A leak from the commissioner office has generated
panic. I have ordered a probe for the source of the leak,” he said.

Senior officials of Karnataka State police were disappointed by the “an unprofessional leak”. The
Bengaluru Police Commissioner’s memo arose as a national security alert over terror attack during
Independence Day.

All metropolitan cities across the nation were under high alert, not just Bengaluru,” A senior police
official stated that the memo was leaked and was shared on social media which was false.
There was a security assessment meeting by then Police Commissioner in May 2019, succeeding
the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka, caused a similar panic in the city.

A man walked out of Majestic metro station when he was asked to stand separately when the metal
detector beeped, was branded a “terror suspect” by a sector of the media. Finally, the man was
traced and the police confirmed that he was a laborer from Rajasthan who had never taken a metro
before.

According to Tobby Simon, founder of Synergia Foundation stated on counter-terrorism that such
leaks instill fear in common citizens.

In this case, we noticed successive announcements by the State police that had an impact and the
news about terror threat had spread like a wildfire. A digital problem has a digital solution. Law
administering officials must be attentive and work with peoples’ welfare foundations to stop the
spreading of fake news in real-time.
