TURMERIC

1. Tincture
INGREDIENTS
1. 2 cups organic ground fresh turmeric
2. 2 cups of at least 70% alcohol based solvent like vodka
3. 2 cups alkaline water
4. 1 tBsp organic black pepper
5. 1 cup acerola cherry powder

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Before you start, make sure to sterilize all your tools and containers - any spoon,
jar, blender jug that would come in contact with the turmeric tincture must be well
washed and sterilized.
2. Then grate the turmeric. Make sure to wear gloves to prevent your hands from
staining in yellow.
3. You can also blend it in a food processor/blender just long enough to break it down
into tiny bits. *
4. Add the grated turmeric into a sterilized glass container. Add the black pepper and
acerola cherry powder.
5. Pour the alcohol over, then add the water.
6. Stir well and put away in a dark cupboard for 6 weeks.
7. Every couple of days, open the jar and stir with clean spoon. Put back in the
cupboard.
8. In 6-weeks time, this mixture can be drained and stored in little darkened dropper
bottles. Then it's ready to be used.
9. Dissolve 0.5 ml (about 10 drops) tincture in a glass of water and take 1-2 times a
day.

2. Capsule
MATERIALS
1. Turmeric powder
2. Fresh ground black pepper
3. “00” gelatin or vegan capsules

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Put on your gloves.


2. With a spoon, mix the turmeric with black pepper in a glass dish with a flat bottom.
Use a ratio of about 2/3 cup of turmeric to about 2 teaspoons of black pepper.
3. Open a capsule and using the larger segment, push the capsule down into the
turmeric mixture. Repeat with the segment until powder is compacted up into it.
You will feel the pressure of it being full.
4. Slide on the shorter segment until snug and secure.

3. Extract Preparation

1. Clean the turmeric samples and air-dry in the shade for two days before grounding
to a fine powder in a blender (CM/L7360065, Jaipan, Mumbai, India).
2. The fine powder will be used to prepare both ethanolic and aqueous extracts
3. Briefly, prepare 20% ethanolic extract by adding turmeric powder (20 g) in 70%
ethanol solution to make a 100 mL solution.
4. Similarly, for 20% aqueous extract preparation, dissolve 20 g of turmeric powder
in water to make a 100 mL solution.
5. Place both ethanol and aqueous extract solutions in the dark to avoid reactions that
may occur in the presence of light and shake in a shaker for 72 h at room
temperature.
6. Then, filter through Whatman No. 1 filter paper and concentrate in a rotary
evaporator (Buchi, Tokyo, Japan) under reduced pressure (100 psi) at 40°C (for
ethanol) and 55°C (for water).

Direction for use / Dosage:


400 milligrams of a curcumin extract three times a day, 445 milligrams of a
standardized supplement 2 to 3 times a day, 1tsp of the dried herb in a cup of warm milk daily, 1tsp
to 1 tbsp of a liquid extract divided into several dosages over the course of a day, or 1/8 to
¼ tsp of turmeric tincture 3x a day. Your body will absorbed more curcumin if you take it
with lots of black pepper. The pipeline in pepper improves the body's ability to use turmeric
perhaps as much as twentyfold, according to studies.

Dosage Turmeric extracts standardized at 90 to 95% curcumin can be taken in the amount of
250 to 500 mg three times per day. Tincture, 0.5-1.5 ml three times per day, is sometimes
recommended.
