INSTRUCTIONS
1. Before you start, make sure to sterilize all your tools and containers - any spoon,
jar, blender jug that would come in contact with the turmeric tincture must be well
washed and sterilized.
2. Then grate the turmeric. Make sure to wear gloves to prevent your hands from
staining in yellow.
3. You can also blend it in a food processor/blender just long enough to break it down
into tiny bits. *
4. Add the grated turmeric into a sterilized glass container. Add the black pepper and
acerola cherry powder.
5. Pour the alcohol over, then add the water.
6. Stir well and put away in a dark cupboard for 6 weeks.
7. Every couple of days, open the jar and stir with clean spoon. Put back in the
cupboard.
8. In 6-weeks time, this mixture can be drained and stored in little darkened dropper
bottles. Then it's ready to be used.
9. Dissolve 0.5 ml (about 10 drops) tincture in a glass of water and take 1-2 times a

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Clean the turmeric samples and air-dry in the shade for two days before grounding
to a fine powder in a blender (CM/L7360065, Jaipan, Mumbai, India).
2. The fine powder will be used to prepare both ethanolic and aqueous extracts
3. Briefly, prepare 20% ethanolic extract by adding turmeric powder (20 g) in 70%
ethanol solution to make a 100 mL solution.
4. Similarly, for 20% aqueous extract preparation, dissolve 20 g of turmeric powder
in water to make a 100 mL solution.
5. Place both ethanol and aqueous extract solutions in the dark to avoid reactions that
may occur in the presence of light and shake in a shaker for 72 h at room
temperature.
6. Then, filter through Whatman No. 1 filter paper and concentrate in a rotary
evaporator (Buchi, Tokyo, Japan) under reduced pressure (100 psi) at 40°C (for
ethanol) and 55°C (for water).
