1.0 Definition entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship is defined as the entrepreneurial attitude or style of acting on
opportunities, starting a business, expanding and maintaining the business viability
of the business. Next, entrepreneurship is a dynamic process for wealth creation.
Wealth is created by individuals who take great risks in equity, time and career
commitment or provide value for a product or service. It is a process of creating
something new by taking time and effort into taking into account financial,
psychological and social risks. And benefit financially, personal satisfaction and
freedom according by Histrich and Peter (1988). Next, entrepreneurship is one who
identifies opportunities and provides resources by creating a new business and
facing uncertainty in order to gain profit and growth (growth) to achieve it according
to Scaborough and Zimmerer (1988). After that, McClelland (1961) described
entrepreneurs as innovative and high need for achievement. Successful
entrepreneurs tend to take risks that are planned and have high internal control.

2.0 Entrepreneur’s background


Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim is Managing Director/President & Group Chief Executive
Officer of Axiata Group Berhad, which he joined in March 2008. He has worked for
about 35 years in the ICT industry – 16 years in IT and 19 years in
telecommunications. Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim started his career as a lecturer in
Quantitative Methods at California State University, USA in 1980. He then spent 12
years in IBM (1981-1993), the first five years as Systems Engineer and then in
various positions in Sales, Marketing and Management. In 1993, he was appointed
Chief Executive Officer of Digital Equipment Malaysia (the Malaysian branch of
Digital Equipment, then the second largest IT company worldwide). Four years later,
in 1997, Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim joined Maxis Communications Berhad, and was
appointed Chief Executive Officer in 1998. In 2006, he was re-designated Group
Chief Executive Officer. He retired from Maxis in 2007. In 2008, he joined Axiata as
the Managing Director/President & Group Chief Executive Officer.
3.0 What is business all about
Axiata’s primary business is in investment holding and the provision of
telecommunication and consultancy services on an international scale. Their main
focus being emerging markets in ASEAN and South Asia. Formerly known as TM
International Bhd (TMI), the company was incorporated on 12 June 1992, and was
the mobile and international operations arm of Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM).
Following the de-merger of TMI from TM, the company was listed on the Main Board
of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad in 2008. On 2 April 2009, TMI underwent a
rebranding exercise, launching its new name, Axiata, and a new logo. Their new
tagline, Advancing Asia, was also launched, reflecting the direction of the company
in focusing their expansion within Asia. Axiata has controlling interests in mobile
operators in Malaysia, Nepal, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Cambodia with
significant strategic stakes in India and Singapore. The Group also has stakes in
non-mobile telecommunication operations in Thailand and Pakistan.

4.0 Business background includes:


4.1 size of business
Company Axiata Group Berhad limited is a big business classification. This is
because the Company Axiata Group Berhad is a telecommunications
company used by the countries of Malaysia, Nepal, Indonesia, Sri Lanka,
Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Singapore, Thailand and Pakistan. In
Bangladesh, 68.7% is owned by Company Axiata Group Berhad, of which the
brand is a subsidiary of Company Axiata Group Berhad is Robi. In addition,
100% of the brands are owned by the company Axiata Group Berhad and
smart brands have been released in Cambodia. Later, the Ncell brand has
been released and 80% has been dominated by Company Axiata Group
Berhad while in India 8.17% has been controlled by Company Axiata Group
Berhad. Company Axiata Group Berhad company has launched the Vodafone
Idea Limited brand in India as a telecommunication device. Further, in
Indonesia of
66.55% is owned by Company Axiata Group Berhad as a telecommunications
company. The brand produced in Indonesia is XL which is a
telecommunication device.
Furthermore, in the rare case of 83.32% is owned by Company Axiata Group
Berhad as a telecommunications company. Dialog brands have been
introduced here as a telecommunication medium. Finally, in Malaysia 100%
of the communication medium is controlled by Company Axiata Group
Berhad. In Malaysia brand Celcom has been released as a communication
tool.

4.2 type of business ownership


Company Axiata Group Berhad is a partnership company established on
June 12, 1992, initially led by Datuk Seri Jamaludin Ibrahim and members of
the group, Dato 'Mohd Izzaddin Idris, Dr Hans Wijayasuria, and more. they
are the main assistants and drivers of Company Axiata Group Berhad. they
are also investors and contributors to Company Axiata Group Berhad.
Furthermore, they helped Company Axiata Group Berhad to expand its
overseas business such as Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal, Thailand and so
on.
4.3 Type of business
Company Axiata Group Berhad is a company that runs a telecommunications
business providing telecommunication services to the public. Company Axiata
Group Berhad is a company not only famous in Malaysia but also overseas
such as Nepal, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India,
Singapore, Thailand and Pakistan. The company has branches in each
country specified to carry on telecommunications business. The Company
Axiata Group Berhad Company carries the country's name in
telecommunications.
4.4 Stage of business
a) Start up
The company was initially established under the name TM International
Limited on June 12, 1992, which is a subsidiary of mobile and international
operations to Telekom Berhad. Then, on April 2, 2009 the company
rebranded the brand by changing its company name and logo by naming it
Axiata. The company was originally just a company as a regular
telecommunications company.
b) Growth
At the growth stage Axiata Group Berhad Company has expanded its
wings overseas by establishing a single brand in each country it operates.
For examples Nepal, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India,
Singapore, Thailand and Pakistan.
c) Mature
At the mature stage of the company Axiata Group Berhad is still in a good
state where more and more people are using its product, for example
Celcom simulators that are a public favorite. In addition to not just Celcom,
tune talk is also included in Celcom's coverage that tune talk uses the
Celcom line in their business.
d) Down
On the downside, the Axiata Group Company is still well-known despite
the growing competition in telecommunications
.
4.5 SWOT analysis of business (strength, weaknesses, opportunity, threat)
a) Strength
Company Axiata Group Berhad Have strength namely high price
competitiveness in SE Asia, a very huge size and nearly 20,000
employees, diversified into many segments, line with evolution of the
telecommunications market, strong R&D department and strong market
reputation and presence in the sector
b) Weaknesses
weaknesses in the Company Axiata Group Berhad SWOT Analysis is
recent Low market share is a concern and low margins in many segments
eases.
c) Opportunity
Opportunities in Company Axiata Group Berhad SWOT Analysis is market
penetration in internet usage is increasing, population growth and
urbanization is increasing the demand, growth in telecommunication
service industry and IPO offerings in other countries.
d) Threat
The threats in the SWOT Analysis of Company Axiata Group Berhad are
as mentioned is subscriber war business practices, smartphone war, rapid
changes in technology and competition through aggressive advertising

5.0 Entrepreneurial values hold by entrepreneurs.


Among the values that the entrepreneur must hold is to take the risk of bravely
distributing business both domestically and abroad. In addition, entrepreneurs need
to have enough knowledge to run a business and at the same time share it with
everyone. Then, it is a high religious knowledge that not only believes in the results
of our efforts but believes that God is helping the entrepreneur. Finally, thinking skills
are quick to do the job or to solve problems wisely.
