Tops Table Tennis - Sporting Schools Programme – Information for Coaches and Clubs

The Tops Table Tennis Programme aims to introduce the sport to young people through a progressive range of fun
and innovative table tennis related lessons and activities. The programme resources are designed to meet the
needs of all teachers regardless of their table tennis knowledge. Resources include lesson plans, activity cards, skill
circuits and competition formats.

The Tops Table Tennis Programme was developed according to National Curriculum encompassing play, skills
development, the game and assessment to ensure complete student development in table tennis.

The Tops Table Tennis Programme is a comprehensive programme that offers all teachers and coaches an
opportunity to learn and teach the fun and dynamic sport of table tennis.

The Tops Table Tennis Programme for Sporting Schools is a 5 week in school or in club programme. The
programme can be delivered by an accredited Table Tennis Coach or a Teacher within your School with the
assistance of Table Tennis Australia.

When you select Table Tennis to be delivered at your School you will receive funding to cover all or some of the
following:

- Table Tennis Equipment Package including freight


 4 x table tennis tables and nets
 30 x table tennis rackets
 100 x table tennis balls
- Coach Delivery Costs
- Tops Table Tennis Programme Manual

* Schools also have the option to purchase individual equipment items.

** Schools can also conduct the programme at their nearest Sporting Schools endorsed Table Tennis Club who will
provide all of the required equipment.

School requirements to deliver the Tops Table Tennis – Sporting Schools Programme

- Maximum of 30 children per session


- Delivered by an endorsed table tennis coach or trained teacher
- Table Tennis equipment
- Tops Table Tennis Programme Manual
COACHING PROVIDERS – AFFILIATED CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS

Overview Table Tennis Australia has adopted the Coaching Provider delivery model. Any
affiliated Club and Association interested in being a Coach Provider and delivering
table tennis in the Sporting Schools Programme are encouraged to contact the
National Development and Inclusion Manager of Table Tennis Australia on (07)
3369 4999 or email

Registration Affiliated Clubs and Associations must complete the coach provider registration
online process consisting of:
 Step 1 – Register as a member
 Step 2 – Register as a Sporting Organisation
 Step 3 – Register as a Coaching Provider
 Step 4 – Set up your Sporting Schools Profile
 Step 5 – Eligibility
 Step 6 – Declaration
 Step 7 – Get your Coaches to register as a member
NB: Ensure that your coaches TICK – Contact a coaching provider or organisation
(eg: local club) to arrange and confirm your coaching services. Coaches will be
required to enter the Coaching Provider name.

Endorsement Only affiliated Clubs and Associations will be endorsed as a Coach Provider by Table Tennis
Australia.

NB: Your endorsed Coach Provider status on the Sporting Schools website will require
Coaches from your Club to also be registered and endorsed by Table Tennis Australia.

COACHES

Overview As a coach you are able to deliver the Tops Table Tennis Programme by:
 Registering as a coach on the Sporting Schools website; and
 Becoming endorsed by Table Tennis Australia.

Registration Complete Sporting Schools coach registration online consisting of insurance,


Working with Children Check and minimum qualifications.

Endorsement Coaches will need to complete Table Tennis Australia’s minimum requirements to
be endorsed to deliver:
 A minimum of NCAS Tops Table Tennis Coach accreditation; and
 Registration with Table Tennis Australia through an affiliated
club or association

Note: Endorsed coaches are covered by Table Tennis Australia’s Public Liability and
Professional Indemnity insurance under the TTA National Insurance Scheme.

N.B: Sport Initiative Grants may assist Schools where additional funding is required to purchase the table tennis
equipment package. Further information about the Sport Initiative Grants will be forwarded to the Schools in
due course.
