Job Description    Health Officer

Muslim Hands is an international relief and development non-government organization


established in 1993. The organization is currently working in 52 countries. Muslim Hands works
both directly and with emergency relief. 
This an exciting time to join an international NGO with over 26 years’ experience across 52
countries. Muslim Hands Yemen is undergoing new and positive changes. We are building on
the capacity of the office, looking to implement new and innovative projects alongside opening
new fundraising channels. This role is seen as pivotal to the long-term vision for Muslim Hands
Yemen. 

Position: Health officer 
Reports to: Program manager 
Location: Aden  – essential travel is required to other areas of Yemen
Contract Type: FT (six months with the possibility of extension.)

SUMMARY:

The health Officer will be responsible for managing and supervising all project health activities
in the targeted district by managing the field project staff. He \ She will work under direct
supervision of the Program Manager to whom regular reports and certain data should be
submitted. The health Officer will represent MH and actively participate in the coordination
processes with Local Authorities, GHOs, SCMCHA and Clusters at the field level. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1-    In collaboration with the program manager, daily organization and supervision of the project
activities
2-    Responsible for the planning of the team on the field each week.
3-    Transmission of the weekly planning every week to the project manager and the weekly
reports.
4-    Responsible for the availability of the materials of the team for the field activities
5-    Participation in required recruitment for field team staff 
6-    With the team, help ensure beneficiary identification, support, and follow-up tools are
relevant and utilized supervision visits tool.
7-    Ensure the proper understanding by the teams of the tasks they should carry out and the
objectives to reach
8-    Participate with the program Manager in the organization of essential capacity-building
activities for the project team under his/her direct supervision
9-    Work in close relationship with the PMs on technical aspects (challenges, “difficult” cases,
review of the intervention modality, strategy…), on a regular basis
10    Ensure all field teams are making appropriate records of their activities with beneficiaries
(beneficiary assessment and follow-up forms, referral forms, donation certificates, etc), and link
this/her information with the data/monitoring in a timely manner
11-    Ensure regular monitoring and reporting of the activities of the field teams for quality and
efficiency and ensure an appropriate response to the identified needs, with the Project Manager
12-    Write regular (weekly, monthly) reports on activities and progress towards indicators as
required
13-    Collect/check the weekly and monthly reports from the health facility and analyses the data
before sending it to the PM.
14-    Ensure that operational, administrative, supervision & logistics procedures are respected by
his/ /her team members.
15-    Establish an active membership with health and nutrition clusters and technical groups by
representative MH in meetings, training, coordination, and workshops, and ensure that all
reposted and requested information are provided  
16-    Prepare need assessment for coming projects 
17-    Support other program sectors as necessary in any requirement related to health project 
18-    With the support of the program manager, prepare a proposal document according to MH
internal procedure and submitted on the Muslim hands online project forum 
19-    Ensure budget utilization and provide accurate budget targets in terms of activities and
physical target achievement

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

1.    A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in public health, Nurse, Medical Family.


2.    At least two years of experience in Health and Nutrition Projects.
3.    Advanced training/experience in IMCI/BeMONC and infection prevention.
4.    Experience leading the development and delivery of trainings, coaching and supervision of
healthcare workforce.
5.    Expertise in maternal and newborn health services
6.    Experience working within the Ministry of Health and NGOs
7.    Demonstrated experience in field monitoring and conducting surveys.
8.    Strong ability to write clear and well-structured reports.
9.    Excellent computer literacy with a full knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
10.    Excellent English skills (verbal and writing).
11.    Team work and Management skills.
