1. WHICH AMONG THE TYPES OF FRESHWATER ECOLOGY IS THE MOST IDEAL HABITAT OF LIVING
ORGANISMS? DEFEND ANSWER NOT LESS THAN 150 WORDS.

Fresh water Habitats includes rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, marshes and bogs. It has two main
types the Static and Flowing water. Static or Lentic water comes primarily from lakes and ponds. Flowing
or Lotic waters are the rivers and streams. Some organisms that live in freshwater needs the movement
of the stream or river water to survive. In fast moving waters animals that have to hold into rocks and
the bottom may have suction-cup like structures on their bodies. Others thrive in still water
environments like lakes.

As for me, flowing water is best for organisms to live in. Organisms have to live in a habitat that
could help them survive and provide them food. They should live in a safe and clean environment.
Flowing water keeps the habitat of these animals clean and safe. Unlike with freshwater that is static the
pollution that mostly human beings cause will stay in the habitat of organisms living in it. The trash and
wastes will steadily stay in one place and will harm the organisms living in that certain habitat like ponds
and lakes. However, in flowing water the wastes will be wash away. Also in streams and rivers, it has
higher oxygen levels where different heterotrophs can be found there. At the middle part of streams
and rivers, the width increases, as does species diversity; numerous aquatic green plants and algae can
found there that makes enough food for other organisms. Unlike in static freshwater like ponds and
lakes, It has limited species diversity because they are isolated from other sources of water.

2. WHICH AMONG THE TYPES OF MARINE ECOLOGY IS THE MOST IDEAL HABITAT OF LIVING
ORGANISMS? DEFEND ANSWER IN NOT LESS THAN 150 WORDS.

Marine ecology refers to ecosystem of organisms found in salty waters like sea and oceans. As
over 70% of Earth’s surface is covered with water, 97 % of that is salt water, marine ecosystems are the
largest types of ecosystems on the planet. There are various types of marine ecosystems that include
salt marshes, estuaries, the ocean floor, the broad ocean, inter-tidal zones, coral reefs, lagoons and
mangroves. Marine ecosystem is the most diverse among all ecosystems. In order for organisms to live
and survive they depend on the physiochemical environmental conditions in their ecosystems.

I have chosen coral reefs as the most ideal habitat for marine organisms. It is because coral reefs
alone are the home to over 25% of all marine life, despite occupying less than 1% of the ocean floor. It
has the ability to keep diverse organisms. Aside from that coral reefs protect coastlines from damaging
effects of wave action and tropical storms, provide habitats and shelter for many marine organisms.

Therefore as a concerned human being who also benefits from these marine organisms, it is
important that we will protect the coral reef ecosystem. There are many ways of protecting it. One will
be disciplining ourselves from throwing wastes in water areas.
