Pedagogy
Activity This web 2.0 tool will serve as a guided learning activity. It will
help provide a foundation of organization in their minds of the
new topics.
1. On the day of learning this SOL, the students will first
be presented with an intriguing story of the size and
complexity of our solar system that will spark their
interest. Throughout the introduction, SOL main points
and ideas will be covered.
2. In order to provide firm foundation for reaching the
learning objectives, so that everyone understands the
subject matter, the students will be led by the teacher
in a mind mapping activity using Mindomo. Students
will be asked to get out their smart devices or laptops,
and either go on the Mindomo website or download
the app from their appstore.
3. Once they have the app/website pulled up, they will be
directed to create a username and password that they
can remember.
4. Once they are in, they will be free to choose which
template they would like to use, but they must be
accurate with the SOL material that is placed into it.
The teacher will be creating an example as a live guide
from the computer projected on the wall. Through this
example mind map, the teacher will give them
directions and guide them as needed while they
complete the activity.
5. After the activity has been completed, the teacher will
assess the students’ knowledge by drawing names, and
asking questions.
In making a mind map, they will be organizing their thoughts
about what they have learned and will, while they are mapping
out their thoughts, be able to make new connections that they
wouldn’t have made otherwise.
