ENGINEERD WOOD

 Engineered wood also called composite

wood, manmade wood or manufactured
baord.
 It includes a range of derivative wood
products which are manufactured by binding
or fixing strands, particles, fibers veneers or
boards of wood.
 These products are engineered to precise
design specifications which are tested to
meet national or international standards.
TYPES OF PRODUCTS
 Veneer-in wood working
veneer refers to thin
slices of wood, usually
thinner than 3mm. That
typically are glued on to
core panels(typically,
wood, particle board or
medium density fiber
board-MDF) to produce
flat panels such as doors
and parts of furniture.
 Play wood-wood structural
panel is sometimes called
the original engineered
wood product.
 Play wood is manufactured
from sheets of cross
laminated veneer and
bonded under heat and
pressure with durable
moisture resistant
adhesive.
 Particle board-also known as
chipbaord, is an engineered
wood product manufactured
from wood chips,sawwill
shavings or even saw dust with
suitable binder ,which is
pressed and extruded.
 particle board is cheaper,
lightest weaker type of
engineered wood.
 It is also suitable for use when
appearance and strength are
less important than cost.
 Medium density fiberbaord.
MDF-it is an engineered
wood product made by
breaking down hard wood or
soft wood products in to
wood fibers combining it
with wax and binder and
forming panels by applying
high temperature and
pressure.
