ABSTRACT

This study presents the existing quality control practices for building
construction projects in Mandalay. Firstly, literature review is prepared to gather all
possible outlines related to the research topic. Construction quality problems,
importance of quality control in construction projects, production factors of quality
control and methods of quality control are described in this study. The design of the
questionnaires survey is based on the research objectives guided by the observing
from the literature review. Then, the question set is designed to collect appropriate
and necessary primary data and information for achieving the purpose of this
research. A questionnaire technique is the most convenient and efficient techniques to
obtain data needed. Questionnaire survey is used for data collection and distributed
one hundred questionnaires sets to project engineers, site engineers, quality control
engineers, contractors and others. Based on the results, it is found that the respondents
use the specified clear cover in steel, concrete cover, sprit level, do the bars lapping
shown in the drawings, check the number, size and spacing of the bars, formworks,
clear the insides of the formworks and mix the used cement and sand with the
specified ratio. But there has weakness in formworks and material testing. Therefore,
quality control practices are more and more needed for future construction projects.
