General information
General information
This document provides a summary of switches that can be used by bodybuilders.
Switches are divided into two groups depending on how they send signals to the
equipment they control:
• Programmable switches
• Directly connected switches
387 746
More information on the installation and moving of switches can be found in the doc-
ument Installing and moving switches.
Programmable switches
A programmable switch module comprises the following parts:
Information on available basic modules can be found under the heading Description
of basic modules and switch panels.
Information on available programmable switches and keytops can be found under the
368 517
heading Summary of programmable switches.

Programmable switches
Each pushbutton requires a socket in the basic module. The keytops can only be fitted A B C
on the basic module in one way. Pushbuttons are available in two different versions:
• Flat (A)
• With indicator lamp (B)
Each rocker switch requires two sockets on the basic module. Rocker switches are
369 748
available in one version:
• Flat (C)
Rocker switches have 3 positions. The centre position is fixed and is the neutral po-
sition of the switch. The upper and lower positions spring back to the centre position.
• Switch panel
• Contact housing
• Directly connected switches
The number of contact housings and directly connected switches required for a di-
rectly connected switch module depends on the type of switch panel. Information on
368 519
available switch panels can be found under the heading Summary of basic modules
and switch panels.
Information on available directly connected switches can be found under the heading
Summary of directly connected switches.
Contact housings, switch panels and directly connected switches can be purchased
from Scania dealers.
Note:
The maximum load for Scania’s directly connected switches is a 6 A lamp load.

Use contact housing part number 1 443 257 for connection of directly connected 5
switches. 3

More information on moving directly connected switches can be found in the docu-
ment Installing and moving switches.

Directly connected switch functions
Directly connected switches have two or three positions; one of these positions is
fixed and the neutral position of the switch. The upper and lower positions can be
fixed or spring back to the neutral position.
1 0 2
The indicator lamps can be yellow or green.
The different functions can be combined. A directly connected switch can have e.g.
one fixed and one spring-loaded position, and a green indicator lamp.

As a complement to the standard range, Scania offers the possibility of ordering di-
rectly connected switches with custom-designed symbols. Ordering is done through B
Scania’s dealers. Scania dealers order switches as spare parts from the local distrib-
9,7
utor’s order office. This is done with a third-party order.

Ordering directly connected switches with custom-designed symbols:
• Specify the part number for the switch with the required functionality from the
basic range in the tables below.
• If the switch is to have a symbol of your own design, also attach an illustration or
386 264
drawing of the symbol. Avoid using text in the design. 10
• For switches with more than one symbol, please state which symbol is to be the
upper, middle and lower one when ordering.
