This paper is used to set forth my reasoning for choosing the artifacts to populate domain

E of my PDQP. This gives literary justification to each of my selected artifacts. This will also

include personal reflection of each of my selected artifacts.

Domain E is creating and maintaining effective environments for student learning. I knew

that I wanted to focus on my classroom management to address this issue. For my three artifacts

I selected my classroom layout, classroom management notebook, and my classroom

management mind map.

My first selection is a layout of my current classroom right now. I wanted to be able to

provide a visual for how my classroom was organized. I chose to set up my classroom in such a

way so that each area could be broken up into it’s own learning section. It gives me the freedom

and ease to work with the class as a whole effectively ,while still maintaining individual groups

so I can address student needs. This also allows me the flexibility to move from learning stations,

to having good group organization for project based learning. “A diagram of the classroom

arrangement and explanation of how this arrangement facilitates instruction and management”

(Constantino 2009, pg.26) This was my reasoning for including this diagram as well.

My second artifact is my classroom management handbook. Our textbook states, “ some

of your evidence of your skills and dispositions regarding classroom management should be

placed in the portfolio regardless of wether the standards specifically use this term” (Constantino

2009, pg.26) This is the case for section E. I does not necessarily state classroom management

needs to be addressed, but this is a great time to do so. I chose my classroom management

notebook because this is a comprehensive document of how I would like to convey the standard

for TPE 10. There is a lot here for an observer to digest.

My final artifact for this section is my management mind map. This was an exercise that I

selected to showcase how I applied different teaching methods on how to deduce action and

reaction in classroom management. It gives pedagogical reasoning for different areas of

classroom management. Our textbook states, “ How you interact with students colleagues,

parents, and the community has a significant impact on your success as a teacher.” (Constantino

interactions and responses in the classroom.
