English for Nurse:

The need of nurses to communicate professionally, a basic concern in recent years. The
purpose of the English For Nurse program's private English classroom is to help nurses in
English to communicate as well as possible in their work and develop career opportunities, such
as nurses who will work abroad. It is goal-directed, with a clear purpose on communication that
gives the learner the desire to request and/or convey information. The material of this course
includes self-introduction, asking questions during patient admission, giving directions in
hospital facilities, explaining nursing procedures, explaining body parts and hospital equipment,
reassuring patients, persuading and calming patients, medical terminology. The language
functions studied include asking for information, explaining goals, instructing patients, calming,
giving warnings, advising, giving condolences, etc. The tasks gradually increase the required
thinking and strategic abilities involved

 What is the nature of the course: The English for Nurse program is an compulsory
program for student who have joined the private class.

Teaching Resources:

 What are materials available: The learning method uses a learner-centered approach by
involving students actively in courses which include brainstorming activities, discussion,
presentation, simulation, games, case studios, and roleplay.
 What are teaching media available: Teaching media available: video, internet
connection, and video recorder.

Time:

 When to teach/learn english: Flexible time, because the class is private so can adjust to
these student
 How long time is per meeting: Duration for class English for Nurse 90 minutes per
meeting

The context of teaching English for Nurse in Yogyakarta English Private.

Students of Yogyakarta's private English first year program for beginner and intermediate level
consist of 50 students. They consist of 30 women and 20 men, dominantly Javanese (People).
Students will learn about English for Nurse in Yogyakarta Private English which is located in
Yogyakarta City. They will study in a private class which consists of 2 classes containing 25
students each. The class is made as comfortable as possible for students by providing adequate
facilities such as LCD projectors, Personal Computers installed, air conditioning, enough lighting,
and a white board. English for Nurse in Yogyakarta private is located in the middle of the city, so
it is very close to the main road, but it doesn't interfere with the learning process (Physical
Setting). The name is English for Nurse in Yogyakarta, Private English. This course is only
available for private classes, therefore if a student has taken this course, he or she is required to
take part in all existing activities. The English program for nurses is a compulsory program for
students who have taken private classes. In this class, students not only cover the four main
skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and their corresponding enabling subskills, but
also key aspects of the language system (grammatical, lexical, phonological and cultural)
(Nature of the Course Institution). For this program they use the learning method uses a
learner-centered approach by involving students actively in courses which include

spent in this private class is flexible, because the class private so we can adjust to these
students. It includes sets of exercises to be done in and out of the classroom. It should cover
from about 96 to 120 hours of class. Sometimes they put on some extra hours to direct clinical
experience practices in health services in order to provide the learners with opportunities to
put what they have learnt into practice (Time).
