Steel Connections

Exercise 17-3
1. Start Revit 2018

2. Open the file Exercise 17-3.rvt

3. Go to Connection Settings, and load the following connection Base plate, Apex
Haunch, and Clip angle

4. Make sure Detail Level = Fine

5. Start Connection command, from Type selector, select Apex Haunch, select
the two inclined beams, then press [Enter] to end the command

6. Zoom to the connection, you will see three bolts at the top part, and one at the
bottom part, we need to add another one at the bottom

7. Select the connection

8. From Properties, click Edit Modify Parameters

9. Go to General, then Bolt Groups, change Group 1 to 3 lines, and for Group 2,
change Start dist to be 120, and Interm dist to 75

10. Close the dialog box

11. Using Connection command, and Clip angle, do the connection of the two
inclined beams with the two columns

12. Using Connection command, and Base plate, do the lower ends of the two
columns

13. Select one of the base plates, from Properties, click Edit Modify Parameters,
go to Base Plate, then Anchor and holes, change Anchor type to German
J-Anchor. Repeat the same steps to the other base plate

14. Save the file and close it
