Since childhood I did not like to read novels, for some reason that habit cannot be eliminated. I prefer
to watch it on tv, I more quickly grasped the contents of the story than reading it through novels. Because for
me reading novel quickly made me bored. The reason I chose this negeri 5 menara because of the interesting
title and did not know the contens of the story, I got this novel from one of my friends whose hobby was
reading novels.
The land of negeri 5 menara is the first nevel of this work ahmad fuadi. ahmad fuadi was born in bayur
maninjau west Sumatra, on 30 september 1973. his first novel was considered to foster enthusiasm for
achievement, and has been a best seller. novel 15 both the reaim of 3 colors, third novel rantau I muara, the
fourth novel is a scholarship of 5 continents, and the last is the child of rantau, ahmad fuadi is novelist, social
worker and former journalis from Indonesia.
In this novel of negeri 5 menara, there are figures who play roles,namely alif as the main character, his
character is portrayed by someone who is full of enthusiasm, and does not give up and ustadz salman as a thin
alif homeroom with a long voice and most of them are controlled by a wide forehead.
This novel tells the story of a village boy named alif fikri. Alif fikri from a small village near banyan lake
maninjau, padang west sumatera this is a child who has a dream to become a successful person but after a
few days after graduating from junior hight school his mother talks if she disagree if his son goes to high school
one afternoon alif received a letter from his uncle who was studying in Egypt which suggested that he go to
school in madani’s cottage with a heavy heart he followed the aduice of this uncle then he went to cottage
madani whose father took his trip to spend three nights by chasing time so its not too late to register for
cottage madani an Arabic sentence that Alif heard on the first day of cottage madani was able to change the
life of Alif mantra magic who was given Ki al Rais’’Man Jadda Wajadda’’ who really would get because alif
cottage befriending the king from medan, said from Surabaya, sulmajid from bandung and baso from Sulawesi
and 5 of his friends always gather under the fallest tower in the courageous hut while arranging their
aspirations in the future the life he lives is not easy many new things they have to do like alif every day have
activities al-qur’an must speak Arabic or English in 24 hours not to mention the strict regulations that are
applied in madani huts and may not be late but thanks to the many experiences that motivated alif and his
friends to successfully complete the college formed after graduating from cottage madani the series of dreams
under the tower is real.
The advantages of this novel are able to invite the reader to be in the life of the boarding school that
can add knowledge about the life of the boarding school that in the boarding school not only learn the science
of religion general science and is able to inspire the younger generation to not be afraid to dream and aspire.
The shortcomings of this novel are because there is a lack of clarity in the picture of some
figures, which in the end the story of this life’s journey like what ? what is the condition of the person.
Overall, in my opinion novel negeri 5 menara is very good and interesting to read which can change my
view of boarding school parents also get an idea of where their children will be included for school because
they make parents know that going to school at the hut is not learning religion just reading and memorizing
but more about applying daily life like other public schools and promoting religious principles or shari’a this
Islamic novel has a lot of positive impact on readers who can add knowledge about the lives of boarding
school and are able to inspire young people to aspire to.
