Community Resource Project
Rationale:
Many people do not grow up with the advantages that others do. Some individuals have
not finished school, cannot speak English, or read. Due to these factors, many times these
individuals struggle when it comes to finding a good job and providing for their families. The
Community Education Program that the IU13 provides helps these individuals take the right
steps towards becoming successful.

Rationale:
Low income families tend to struggle with paying bills, buying food and other
necessities. This is something that I personally relate to; I grew up in a low income, single-parent
family. The struggle for my mother to feed and keep a house over our heads caused a lot of
stress. Lebanon County Assistance provided my family with the relief it needed. This allowed for
my family to focus on things like spending time together and education.
Description of Primary Function: Provides health services and education programs to families
in Lebanon County.
Rationale:
Lebanon Family Health Services helps to provide health services to individuals who may
not qualify for medical assistance but also cannot afford health insurance either. We want to
make sure children and their families stay healthy so that education can be the main focus.
Lebanon Family Health Services helps to make that possible.

Description of Primary Function: DDS provides education and other services to individuals
with disabilities living in Lebanon County.
Rationale:
Schools provide a lot of resources to students with disabilities while they are in school,
however, it is important to consider services for these individuals outside of school as well. This
will allow these students to have even better chances of flourishing in life. DDS provides these
outside of school resources. My mother has worked for DDS in the past and they do a good job
at providing individuals with disabilities the resources they need to succeed.

Many times, individuals with disabilities can have a pretty normal life if they are treated
and given the right resources early. Lebanon County Early Intervention Program starts to help
individuals with disabilities as early as birth. The program sets up individuals for success before
entering school. This program also helps relieve the stress families may have about taking care of
a special need’s child.
