What resources are available at the site?

Machines that measure many types of weather. Seismometer, Wind Vanes, Satellite
Storm Tracking and expert Meteorologists and other weather scientists.

How would you help the field-site personnel prepare for the visit?
Let them know what we have covered before and that we would like to see the
various machines that measure weather and have them explain these tools to us.
Ask the meteorologist to share why measuring weather is important and what we
use weather calculations for.

How would you help children to be organized for the experience?

Go over behavior expectations. Let students know we will be looking at machines
that measure different types of weather. Remind them who meteorologists are and
what they do. Explain that we will be meeting a metrologist. Have students draw
pictures of the machines they see.

What materials and supplies will you need for the field-site visit?
Clipboards, paper, camera, interview questions for the meteorologist.

What follow-up activities can be planned after the field trip?

Drawing what we saw at the weather station, building our own weather vane,
observing the weather in our community, doing a weather broadcast with
information we gather and predictions.
