My Interest.

Marine Science is the study of the ocean, its habitats, ecosystems and its life forms.
There are five types of oceans in the world, such as Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian
Ocean, Arctic Ocean and Southern Ocean. There’s something about the ocean
that fascinates me and draws my attention. It’s the most omnipresent
substance on Earth and, along with air, the primary ingredient for
supporting life as we know it.

It’s all started when I visited Langkawi Island two years ago. I went
on a vacation with my coursemates and it was indeed a memorable trip.
Wearing a life jacket, effortlessly floating and swimming in the lake were
my experience in Langkawi. I totally miss the moment even today. I had
my first snorkelling experience in Tioman last month. Standing at the
shore’s edge in Tioman Island, I was once again overtaken by the
sensations of peace and serenity. At that time, I was breathing heavily,
the water was dripping from my hair and my skin was soaked in salt. I felt
at one with the world and at peace with myself and all that was happening
in my life—chaos included. I, like many ocean lovers, felt refreshed,
renewed, and awakened by the presence of the ocean. While many of us
can go on and on about why we love the ocean, there’s a perfectly good
scientific explanation as to why it is that way.

Discovering the mystery of the ocean always excites me and that’s

why I love spending my holiday on the island. If you are not good at
swimming, snorkelling is the best activity you can opt for. Snorkelling can
let you experience the intense natural beauty of the underwater world
without heavy equipment. Coral reef is the main reason why I love the
ocean. Coral reefs are one of the world's most colourful and diverse
ecosystems. They have a huge effect on the human life on earth as well as
the habitat in general. Healthy coral reefs mean healthy oceans which
means a healthy planet. The most interesting about coral reefs is the fact
that they are not plants. They're actually animals and amazingly enough, are relatives
of jellyfish and anemones.
During my free time, I love researching about the mystery of the
ocean. For example, the life of deep sea animals. Speaking of dark waters,
the average depth of the ocean is around 14,000 feet. The bottom of the
ocean is extremely cold because the sunlight cannot be reach down to the
bottom of the sea. However, the sea creatures that live at the bottom of
the sea produce some kind of light. Anyway, it’s not a good idea for
anyone who has Thalassophobia to dive into the deep. Thalassophobia is
the intense and persistent fear of the sea or of sea travel. But for me, if I have get the
chance to dive into deep water, I would totally go for it.

In a nutshell, I am quite drawn into marine science. The ocean has always been
my remedy for relieving tension, stress, and anxiety. It is still full of mysteries
and I hope one day the scientists will discover more about the beauty of the ocean.
