Three keys to solve education problems in Indonesia

Every three years, since 2000 Indonesia and other countries have always participated in a test called
PISA. The last Test of PISA was held in 2018, and a recent test result demanded that we be our concern.
Because our country score is relatively low compared to other countries.

There are three aspects that determine the score of PISA, that is; Reading, mathematics, and science. In all
three aspects, the Indonesian score declined from its final Test in 2015. The result of Indonesia was ranked 70s
from 78 countries from three assessed aspects. (https://www.oecd-library.org/sites/694c168b-id/index.html?

From that result makes us ask; is the education in Indonesia problematic?, what can we do to solve this
problem?.

So here are the answers to the problem.

Before it was important to know what was PISA, and how the history could be PISA established. Pisa
was formed because the countries began to realize the importance of education evaluation. At that time Test
was not a new thing at the time, but the OECD had a different view than the test usually, PISA did not test the
achievement of students with the things that can be memorized, but how the students especially the 15-year-
old are ready in a career, because PISA realized that memorization alone is not enough in a career.

There are three things that need to be emphasized in education system; First we have to ask when all
the work has changed replaced by robots and so whether these students can face future challenges?, secondly,
do these students after graduation can do good analysis and reasoning logic? Because this is fundamental,
thirdly, do these students have the capacity to keep learning after graduation?

Thus, these three aspects are measured to answer the question. In addition, when PISA was formed there were
cases where many graduates were not in accordance with what was needed in the field. That resulted in much
unemployment.

Thus, from this, the approach of education in Indonesia should be improved, the solution of course we need to
evaluate the current education system and change it with a more precise.

1. Government

Does the Government need to improve curriculum? Does it need a teacher improvement?. School
curriculums may not yet appropriately teach students the important things in our lives, of course we need a
good curriculum, and also need to evaluate the teachers in order to teach precisely, but the problem is the
process of making a curriculum that does not, must deal with the bureaucracy, the political, pros and cons of
the community, which slows the process of adopting new things in the education world in Indonesia, and
making campuses and schools in Indonesia Less efficient and adaptable or less relevant to the time-honored. If
the problem is the teacher, we all know that many teachers who lack adequate facilities and wages so that they
can teach well.

2. Community

Community support on improving the quality of education, involving the role of community leaders and
religious leaders and social culture institutional. Their inclusion in school management should be integral,
synergistic and effective.

3. Private parties

Private parties can make great care, because it is more flexible in making new products that are
beneficial in society. This flexibility and speed is what makes private companies to get the system in the world.
For example online taxi companies, online Ojek, incomers and many more make big changes in the landscape
of development in Indonesia and in the world.

The solution is to need everyone so that education in Indonesia can be more advanced, ranging from
government, society, teachers and also private parties.
