Evidence: The time is now

This evidence is divided into two parts: A composition and an audio file. Read the
instructions below and make sure you complete both tasks.

A. Answer the questions below. Use the examples as models of the grammar and
vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why didn’t you study English before? (List at least 5 reasons in a

composition.)

Example:

One of the reasons why I didn’t study English before it is because I thought it
was too difficult. I didn’t understand my English teacher at school and that
was frustrating.
 I had not studied English before, work occupied me all the time. Then my son needed
my free time.

At some point I did not find it necessary to study English, I did not need it at that
time.

I had not had the need to travel, which did not require knowledge of English. Do not
determine as a priority to study English.

Do not study English with dedication. In spite of having knowledge of technical

English in the university.

2. How different would things be if you had learned English before? (Name and
explain at least 5 things.)

Example:

If I had learned English some years ago I would have accepted a job a
multinational company offered me five years ago. One of the requirements
was to speak English and my level back then was very low.

If I had studied English, I would have more job opportunities.

I would have traveled before if I had studied English.

If I had seen English with interest before, at this time I had already met the
postponed goals.

If I had studied English, I could have supported my son more in the learning of
English.

My social and economic development would be better if I had studied English with
interest from the university.

B. Record an audio file of yourself answering the following questions. Use the
examples as models of the grammar and vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why are you studying English? (List and explain at least 4 reasons.)

Example:
 I’m studying English because I finally decided that if I want to improve my
professional profile becoming bilingual is essential.

R/ I am studying English because I want to improve my work profile.

At this moment I am studying English because the markets are

international and I have the need to expand the offer.

I study English because I have the need to travel to the United States
and Europe for business.

I study English because being bilingual I have more possibilities to grow

professionally and travel to other countries that I want to know.

2. In what ways are you going to benefit from this learning?

R/ The apprenticeship will allow me to develop all the work activities,

being bilingual, it will allow me to make the required work trips and the
cultural learning trips, besides I support my son in the learning of
English.

Example:

Being competent in English is going to increase the opportunities of landing a more

satisfying and better-paid job. We live in an international open market and English
is the most important language.
