Chemical engineer do?
Chemical engineering is all about turning raw
materials into useful, everyday products. The clothes
we wear, the food and drink we consume and the
energy we use all depend upon chemical
engineering. Chemical engineers work out the
processes to make all these products, while also
helping to manage the world's resources, protect the
environment and ensure health and safety standards
are met.

3. Tell me about yourself/ what can you tell
me about yourself? What can you do for the
company?
When I was in college, I decided to take up a major
in Chemical Engineering because I have always liked
math and science and I have a natural curiosity for
how things work. When I researched different
majors, Chemical Engineering seemed to offer the
most potential in leading me to a career I would
enjoy. I was active in several organizations on
campus and one of which I was able to work with a
team in developing a project that was executed for a
cost-effective production in manufacturing that was
able to enhance the speed and quality of processing
of handicrafts by the community we aided.
I understand that for this position of process
development engineer, you’re looking for someone
with great communication, problem solving, and
analytical skills. Overall, I can summarize who I am in
three words: engineer, design and sustainability, due
to my background and achievement in successfully
carrying out an exploration and production design as
well as creating efficiencies, I am confident I’ll be

I have an extremely strong work ethic. When I'm
working on a project, I don't just want to meet
deadlines. Rather, I prefer to complete the project
well ahead of schedule ensuring that I am done in
identifying, developing, validating, and implementing
the process to improve manufacturing and

5. What are your weaknesses?
When I was in college, one area I wanted to work on
was my delegation skills. I am always so concerned
about everything being done right and on time that I
can get stuck in that mentality of “If you want it
done right, do it yourself. However, I have learned to
improve and collaborate with others and I know that
the company will provide me a medium where I can
network with professionals where collaboration is
key.

The part that really spoke to me about this position
is that it will provide me a platform to create
industry-changing technologies to launch innovative
new products producing positive impacts and
sustainability tailored to my competencies.

candidates can't?
If you hire me, it will be a great platform to
showcase the basic knowledge provided by my
university as a training ground utilizing a new
advanced curriculum that has enabled me to acquire
a unique combination of skills needed for the
improvement of the company. Whatever goals I set,
I ensure to complete them within the required
amount of time.
8. What is your greatest achievement/ What
do you consider to be your biggest
professional achievement?
My greatest achievement would be when I was
delighted to be the head of the academic affairs
committee when I was in my last year in college for
that is the kind of success I look for in every role. I
had new duties and plenty of variety in my role,
which I’m pleased about. Thus, as I enter the field of
my expertise, I am to bring valuable knowledge in
this position, and develop my career with the
company in the same way.

prefer/ What kind of work environment do
you like best ?
I can be flexible when it comes to my work
environment. I enjoy learning new things, however, I
would love to work in an environment where
productivity is high and the employees have a sense
of commitment.

you want to work here? How did you hear
about the position?

engineering, I'm very interested in applying the

11. Where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself as a senior Chemical engineer for the
company responsible for bringing into completion
extreme engineering projects that will enable the
growth of the company to become an
unprecedented production powerhouse.
12. What are your goals for the future?
Once I gain additional experience, I would like to
have the opportunity to move on from a technical
position to management. I know this has been a
common path for many people in this position, and I
think in time this would be a logical move forward
for me. However, for now, I am excited about
focusing on and applying my technical skills in this
job.
13. What motivates you?
I'm really driven by results — I like it when I have a
concrete goal to meet, and enough time to figure
out a strong strategy for accomplishing it.
14. How do you deal with pressure or stressful
situations?
I keep my composure and focus on multitasking
while being patient.
15. Describe a difficult work situation or project
and how you overcame it./ What's a time
you exercised leadership? / Tell me about a
challenge or conflict you've faced at work,
and how you dealt with it.?
When I was in college, we were facing a tough
deadline for our thesis. I took the lead on the
project, delegated tasks to the other team members
in a way that I thought would utilize everyone’s
strengths best. And then I re-organized my own
personal tasks, so I could dedicate my entire day to
contributing to this thesis as well. It was success and
we were able defend it well. I went on to lead more
projects after that and used what I learned to be
better in developing better methods in doing
academic works.
16. What makes a good team player/member?
A great team player is constantly reliable day in and
day out, not just some of the time. You can count on
them to get the job done, meet deadlines, keep their
word and provide consistent quality work
17. Describe your dream job.
My dream job is to be engaged in your company in
developing and implementing process technology for
product manufacturing and to imbibe the Thomasian
traits of contemplative, creative, and critical
thinking; exemplary work ethic; and a commitment
to the improvement of society and lifelong learning
in my workplace.

18. What is your leadership style?

I like to lead by example. I lead from the front

by taking action, demonstrating what needs to
be done, and keeping my team organized to
make sure we’re all on the same page and
contributing equally

19. Tell me about a time you disagreed with a

decision. What did you do?
When we had to do our thesis in college, We were
working on a proposal when the team needed to
change the method for analyzing our results as
instructed by our instructor. In my assessment, the
decision was going to bring in complications along
the way and may place us way behind schedule. I
went to the instructor and detailed my concerns,
including that I had a few suggestions on how to go
about it instead. He was impressed by my suggestion
which the team eventually implemented

20. Tell me how you think other people would

describe you.
Other people would likely say that I speak
professionally but make people feel at ease with a
bit of humor and friendliness. They may even say
that I have an upbeat personality and focus on the
positives, even when things go wrong. I’ve been
known to diffuse tense conversations and avoid
conflict simply by steering the mood and tone with
more positive and calm speech.

21. What can we expect from you in your first

three months?
Within 30 days, I plan to get to know the people I’ll
be working with the most and to be comfortable
with them. Within 60 days, I plan to have a solid
understanding of the industry, the company and the
competitive landscape so that I can hold my own in
any conversation about the company. Within 90
days, I plan to meet the goals that have been set for
me.
