Summary of the OJT Experience

I am Riley Eṅerez, a third-year student taking Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

As I ask my way to fourth year students in college, I am required to undergo On-the-Job Training
to accomplish my third-year journey as a student. I held my training at Spes Construction Inc.at
Cybergate 2 Robinsonn’s Mandalagan,Bacolod City. Spes Construction Inc. is one of the largest
construction companies in manila.

I started my on On-the-Job training on July 14, 2022, supervised by Arch.Kaye Bandojo

and Engr. Renato Guitrrez a Field Engineer of the Company and assigned in Ground Floor and in
Exterior Design to monitor the construction workers in their specific job and their subcons. It
was my first-time doing site visit and honestly, I am so excited. On our 1 st week at the company,
we just observed on the site watching in every worker of what they’re doing and doing walk thru
Engineer Raymond Parlo together with the Safety Officer. I was amazed in every engineer in the
company since they’re passion and willingness to teach us are very pure. It was very
overwhelming how they share their ideas and how they elaborate it in every question that we
have.

We students are truly blessed that they strive hard to make the Actual On-the-Job training
possible for us to learn in the working environment. They also make us realizes, that having a job
in the real world is not that easy because it requires a lot of knowledge, skills, time, ideas, and
efforts. I am truly happy because I acquired a lot of knowledge during our training on site and I
know it will be useful someday somehow. And I am so thankful to Sir Raymond for teaching us
how to solve a specific problem.

As I graduated in college, I know to myself that I am well-prepared to face the real world
someday. Because after taking this training I am confidently sure that this can help me for my
future job. I know 240 hours is not enough to gain all the knowledge about the civil industry, yet
I will use my not so little knowledge to be a steppingstone to become a better engineer, and I
guess I’m ready to face the real world. I will become an engineer that has a teachable heart who
are willing to learn and able to gain knowledge to become flexible in all things especially in my
future job.
III. Assessment of the OJT/Practicum Program
C. Enerez, Riley D.

One of the skills that I acquired during my on-job training is communication.

Communication is very important in every aspect of our life, the same as in the field of
engineering. To accomplished something, a good communication is a must. I developed my
communication skills by preparing daily reports and tasks, such as questioning each
employee about their accomplishments and specific tasks as well as what their cons are. I
also came to realize the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Because I experience
how collaboration will help us to accomplished great things as a team. We are also aware that
by doing so, it will help us to develop our abilities and be a successful engineer someday.

My moments at SPES CONSTRUCTION INC. are unforgettable because I learn, and

I’ve seen a lot of theories. I saw and used the beauty of algorithms, which aids me in making
decisions. The process of developing and putting together theoretical elements into a
workable concept to address a challenge in a construction site. As an illustration, if there is a
material shortage but the work must still be completed, a wise decision making is required.

I learned a lot during my on-the-job training at SPES CONTRUCTION ICN. Over the
course of a month or 240 hours, the company provide us with high quality learnings and
information. The business supports our efforts to increase participation, poster professional
growth, and evaluate construction activities.

The advantages we attained on our on-the-job training at the workplace is that they teach
a crucial ability including time management, communication, teamwork, problem-
solving, and most importantly a willingness to learn. They encouraged us and even help
us to be more confident enough for us to be enabled to take any challenges.
