Reading (30 mins- different from the project that you chose last
daily) week, but from the same choice board. One
Monday-Friday of the two projects should be a reading project.

gradebook.) Humanities teachers will post
class support session times for students
to meet on TEAMS for assignment support.

MULTI-DAY READING ASSIGNMENT


CHOICES:

SHORT STORIES, LONG LEGACY: In this multi-


day assignment, students will read three short
stories. They will then create a one page or one
slide Legacy Project for the main character. The
Legacy Project will follow the same rules as our
own Barnwell Legacy project where students will
add the following on one page:
1. One word to represent the character.
2. A quote that connect to the representing
word that their character would choose.
3. A picture (Drawn or students can choose
to dress as the character and take a
picture)
4. Character Name included on the
page/slide

OR

5TH GRADE ELA REVIEW: In this multi-day


assignment, students will review 5th grade ELA
vocabulary. Over four days, they will self-quiz
given a quiz, recording sheet, and answer key to
see their review result in improved recall and
knowledge from Monday through Thursday.
Students will submit their scoring sheet on
Thursday showing the scores for all 4 quizzes
conducted over the week.

MUST HAVE ACCESS TO BOOK RECORDINGS ON


GOOGLE CLASSROOM:
HOMEROOM BOOK CLUB: Your homeroom
teacher will be reading a new chapter book with
you, each day, next week. Participate in book
club by completing the daily prompt about your
book in these slides.

OR

PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH ABC BOOK: Students


will create an alphabet book based off of The
Phantom Tollbooth! Make sure each page
includes:
 The letter of the alphabet
 A complete sentence that it
GRAMMATICALLY CORRECT
 A picture to represent your page
You can dress up your page as much as you
would like (use color, change the font, create a
drawing, etc)! Just make sure it includes all of
the essentials.

TIME FOR YOU TO BE THE TEACHER-


Independent Research and Informational
Writing: For this assignment, you choose a topic
that you have not learned about before. Use
either at home printed resources or databases
on MackinVIA to research your topic and write a
2-3 page informational paper using at least two
sources.

OR
PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH CAN BE PRETTY
PUNNY- Phantom Tollbooth is littered with
puns! For this choice, pick some puns from the
book and create visuals. Then use your writing
skills to explain your image.

OR

SEVEN STORY STRUCTURES WRITING- Review


the seven different story structures. Select your
favorite, plan, and write a story.

OR

WORLD WAR ONE POETRY: ERNEST


HEMINGWAY’S POEMS- Using the information
provided about Ernest Hemingway to discover
the effect WW1 had on Americans.

OR

FANTASY WORLD CREATION- Last week, you


designed a map for your fantasy world. Now is
your time to create a story around it. Using the
graphic organizers and plan out your story.

OR

SONG OR RAP ABOUT A SCHOOL TOPIC-


Write a song or rap about your favorite topic
from 5th grade!

 A Jeopardy game-You can draw out the
board and give clues and answers for each
 Match Up: Cards with key terms and
matching cards with definitions
 Trivia with a board (You can design a
board to go with this)
 If you are using technology-you could
create a Kahoot

FLAG SYMBOLISM AND CREATION:
Using provided information, understand why the
flags of the world are the way they are.
Then, create your own flag that represents you,
your family, your class, or Barnwell.
