THE DILEMMA OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD BOARD

Diagnosis of the situation and the emotions it creates.

As this being my first year as a leader of my neighborhood, I might feel overwhelmed as some residents are having
complains about how I do the administration. For this situation, I am thinking of the option of quitting and let another person
do the job, however I am not being self-awareness of the situation.

First, I need to find my self-knowledge so I can grow and face this challenge. I need to value that I’m doing the best
that I can and I’m doing this to improve our neighborhood. Also, I need to value my time and put boundaries with my
neighbors in which I can tell them the schedule when they can call me for complains or suggestions. Analyzing what
actions are not doing well for me, and which actions I need to improve, it’s the basis to create an equilibrium and gain an
emotional intelligence.

Also, I should remember that not everybody is having troubles about the way I’m doing my administration; so I should
let emotional garbage dumpers pass by and live in the gratitude cycle of continuously investing energy participating in my
community as it brings me joy and it contributes to create a meaningful life.
Now that I have identified the situation, I need to have self-efficacy to create motivation and an action plan to
perform tasks. My action plan will have in mind the environment in which we as a neighborhood are, the emotions of my
neighbors and mand my emotions; this to create positive relationships. In the next page you can see the action plan for
this dilemma.
