HI,

Glad you are here today! This week we are going to learn a song that comes from New
Zealand, called “Epo I Tai Tai E”. Do you know where New Zealand is? New Zealand is an
island nation in the Southern hemisphere, South and East of Australia. It’s a small nation of
spectacular landscapes. This song is a folk song of the Mauri people, who are the natives of this
remote nation-island. This song has been handed down for so many generations that no one
knows what the words mean anymore. This video will first teach you the song, then it will show
you how to do some body percussion. There are 3 levels of body percussion, easy, medium and
hard. You can back up and replay the video until you “have” it. I had a hard time doing the 3rd
one. How about you? Are you up for the challenge?

Lesson extension – Watch the video about the beautiful New Zealand Landscapes. While you
watch, ask yourself, “does the music in the video matches what you are seeing?” In what way
does it, or does it not?
