Professional Disposition Statement

As an educator I will ensure I will display integrity, commitment, equality, compassion,

and team work. Integrity is a professional disposition that is important because it involves one

being truthful and honest. Integrity is a vital quality for a teacher to possess because it creates

trust amongst students, parents, and faculty. Commitment is a professional disposition that is just

as important because commitment to educate is needed to be a successful teacher. Displaying

equality is another vital disposition that I will uphold. Being fair and inclusive in a learning

environment is necessary to ensure it is a safe learning environment. Compassion is a disposition

that is important for all teachers to have because students learn at different paces. It is important

to show compassion and patience to all students in order to ensure they are progressing. Team

work is the last but not least disposition I have chosen because it is important for teachers to

demonstrate a positive attitude when working with others. All of the dispositions chosen are

important for teachers to possess in order for students to learn and progress academically.

The self-assessment supports my professional dispositions statement. The areas that are

most important to me are reflected in my professional dispositions statement. The professional

disposition statement displays some of the values and beliefs I uphold inside as well as outside

the learning environment. My professional disposition statement supports student progress and
development. The self- assessment will be similar to my professional dispositions statement due

to that reason.

I have evolved throughout my program of study. I have learned to have patience. Understanding

that students do not all learn the same way and at the same pace has assisted me in having patience for

all students. All students have the ability to learn and progress academically. The professional

dispositions and the Model Code of Ethics are both standards created for teachers to adhere by. Both

regulations are in place to ensure the teacher is maintaining professionalism, good character, and

commitment to the profession. The area where I see there could be growth for myself would be

volunteering. I can improve and evolve by doing more within my community, such as volunteering.
