Simplified installation and guaranteed reliability

BBC Cellpack CAMSV straight through joints offers a
compact and simplified design that ensures high relia-
bility and fault tolerant installations. The CAMSV joint
consists of a single piece slip-on silicon insulating body
integrated with the major components (Geometrical
stress control cones and Faraday cage) that allows fast
installation, thereby reducing time, effort and installati-
on costs.
CAMSV joints are suitable for all single and three core
polymeric insulated cables (PVC, XLPE, PE, EPR). They
allow connection of cables with different cross-sections
and conductor materials and are suitable for cables with
wire screen or tape screen. Specially designed mechani-
cal connectors covering a wide cross-section range and a
reliable connection are included in the kit.

Mechanical Connectors
Mechanical connectors are pre-engineered for a
perfect fit in the CAMSV joints. These connectors are
made of tin-plated aluminum alloy suitable for both
aluminum and copper conductors.
• Chamfered ends to ensure easy and damage-free
slipping of the silicon body.
• Pre-set torque wrench ensures smooth shearing off
the bolts when tightened.
• Internal grooves and offset arrangement of bolts
ensure an optimum contact of the conductor.
• Removable inlays provide a wide application range.
• An integrated separator offers a connection of
conductors with different materials.

Pre-moulded Silicon Slip-on Body
The core of the CAMSV straight-through joint is the
silicon pre-moulded body. Silicon material with high
dielectric strength and good mechanical properties gua-
rantees a secure connection. The inner conductive layer
(which serves as Faraday‘s Cage), the main
insulation layer and the outer semi-conductive layer are
produced in a controlled injection process.
• Integrated geometric cones and Faraday cage offer-
exceptional stress control
• Extended quality controls and individual high voltage
tests ensure high operational reliability.
• Pre-installed applicator facilitates optimal
positioning of the body during installation.
• Thanks to its specially designed and perfect shape,
the body slips automatically into the correct
position over the connector.

Outer Protection Properties

The outer protections developed by BBC Cellpack are • Good thermal stability

market needs, BBC Cellpack offers three variants of
outer protection.

1. Cold shrink (EPDM)

2. Heat shrink
3. Cast resin

Cold shrink (EPDM)

The cold shrink outer tubes made of EPDM are assembled by simply pulling out the supporting spiral. The resulting
radial contact pressure provides a reliable and durable seal. No special tools or torches are required for installation.

Heat shrink
The traditional solution (i.e) heat shrink outer protection tubes are also offered by BBC Cellpack. These heat shrink
tubes are known for their high mechanical characteristics. Customers can choose between heat shrink and cold shrink
tubes as per their needs. The heat shrink protection tubes are provided with a hot-melt adhesive which ensures perfect
contact with the inner body thereby eliminating the need for any additional sealing tapes.

Cast resin
A two-component PUR cast resin is used here to form the outer protection. Due to its liquid state and favorable flow
properties during installation, the cast resin fills the complete joint without any voids or air molecules. Once hardened
the resin offers excellent mechanical and electrical strength.
Cast resin offers the following characteristics,
• High hydrolysis resistance
• Stabilized against UV rays and resistant to alkaline earth materials
• Excellent adhesion to all cable substrates
• In practical and easy-to-use two-chamber bags

Assembly video
For visual clarification, a very detailed assembly video of a CAMSV-3 was created to provide
the installer with an additional source of information to carry out the installation in the field
at a very high level. Besides the cable preparation, it also shows the CAMSV joint bodies
slipping onto the cores, with a tailored design shear head ferrule and complete with cast
resin injection.
