Artifact Description: Truss Bridge 2D, using drawing tools

What you learned:    This project was easy, but did not go the way I planned. My idea was
to use the line tool and simply draw multiple lines until I got my desired outcome. When I
started working on this project, I realized that was going to take way to long and would
probably have an asymmetrical bridge. How was I going to get all the lines the size I needed
them? I then thought about making triangles, once I made a pattern with triangles, I copied
and pasted. It was a lot easier but it still took me about 3 tried before getting my final
drawing.

National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS)•S Addressed:

4 - Students use a variety of technologies within a design process to identify and solve
problems by creating new, useful or imaginative solutions.

4c - Students develop, test and refine prototypes as part of a cyclical design process.

Application of Skills Learned for the Future:

When I signed up for this class I didn’t imagine this was the type of projects I would be
doing. It was a good assignment to start with, it’s not too difficult or overwhelming and
allows us to ease in to what’s coming. This would be helpful in a classroom as a base for
students to design their own bridges, and possibly have them build their own 3D bridges with
sticks. If we wanted to make the bridge 3 dimensional, it would have taken a lot longer but
the outcome would’ve been amazing. Other designs could include buildings or staircases.
