Portfolio Artifact Description:  Science Fair – Present Science

experiment using PowerPoint

What you learned:  This assignment really took me out of my comfort

zone. When I sit down to do homework, the least I expect is to be
required to do an experiment. I went through some ideas and I found
one that said I could create ice instantly. That called my attention. I
did not believe that was possible. I asked my family to do this
experiment on their own so I could collect data and they thought I was
crazy. They all have a great time and enjoyed the outcome, except for
my dad who didn’t follow my instructions and failed. It was fun to try
something new as simple as the experiment I chose was. The main
purpose of this assignment was to create a PowerPoint presentation.
It was very easy but time consuming as I had to find the images that
would help my presentation stand out.

Addressed:  Standard # 6 Students communicate clearly and express
themselves creatively for a variety of purposes using the platforms,
tools, styles, formats and digital media appropriate to their goals.

Application of Skills Learned for the Future:  PowerPoint presentations

are very important in school. I believe everyone has done at least one
when in Middle School or High School. I am not sure if an elementary
school student should create a presentation, but I’m sure as a teacher
I can use them. Many teachers teach with PowerPoint presentation
because having a visual helps students engage in the lesson.
