i had to put on my big girl pants and realize i can’t depend on you.
you said you wanted me and loved me for me.
you met the family, you were supposed to be my best friend.
you were supposed to be my number one supporter.
through thick and thin it was supposed to be you by my side.
yet as time progressed i had to look for you in everyone else. 
no two people are exactly alike. 
yet every once in a blue moon i looked to the God i never once believed in and prayed
there was someone just like you.
they say boys are always going to break your heart,
but as the man who was supposed to be my father, i didn’t think you’d be the first
example.
