64 bit Clean Install Last updated:
May 25, 2018
Applies to:
Hi all Windows/
Windows 10/
So basically I've recently upgraded from Install, upgrade,
Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro, my & activate
problem is I am trying to upgrade to 64 bit / PC
as I am currently on 32 and need the extra
power to run some of the Adobe products.

I have checked all my laptop specs and

everything meets the requirements, I'm
simply struggling to get the installation
media to work once I've downloaded it
onto a USB, (I've done it three times now
and still no luck!)

When I try launch the upgrade file manually

it says it is not compatible and I need to
check for a different version.
The error I get when I troubleshoot the file
is that it is Windows 8 and not 10 like I have
selected on the media creation tool.

What could be causing this issue? I

desperately need some help as I can't seem
to find any threads or anything related
anywhere.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Kind regards

Vince

Two things to know:

Switching from a 32-bit architecture to a

64-bit architecture won't give your
computer 'extra power.' The advantage of
x64 is the ability to make use of more than
4 GB of RAM. That will certainly be an
advantage for Adobe Creative Cloud but it
won't improve your computer's ability to
perform data-intensive tasks. You'll need an
upgraded graphics card and/or CPU for
that.

You can't upgrade from a 32-bit

architecture to 64-bit; you need to do a
clean install.

you can switch directly to a 64 bit version
of Windows 10 with or without a product
key.

• Switching to Windows 10 64 bit is

free, you don't have to pay for it. As
long as you have a qualifying
Windows 7 or 8 or Windows 10
license, you are entitled to use it.
• Switching requires that you perform a
new installation, that means files,
applications and settings will be
deleted.
• You will have to reinstall applications
and native 64 bit drivers.
• Backup before migrating: How to:
Create a system image in Windows 10

Step 1: Download Windows 10 64 bit

then create a bootable copy:
How to download official Windows 10 ISO
files

Step 2: Boot from the 64 bit Windows 10

install media, then perform a custom or
clean install:
• How to: Perform a custom installation of
Windows - Choose this option if you
want to recover files from
Windows.old
• How to: Perform a clean install of
Windows 10 - Choose this option if you
want to erase the drive, files and
applications will be deleted.

Thank you but I have done all of these steps

5 separate times now, I even did it again
after your reply. It still gives me the same
problem, version not supported. It won't
boot from the USB and when I troubleshoot
the setup file it says it's a Windows 8
program.

I'm getting really frustrated as I have limited

data and I've already wasted 20GB.
