Datu and Maranan Incident

A guy went viral on social media after a lady allegedly posted his photo for not giving up his
seat in a long trip from Manila to Bulacan. But as he defended himself, many netizens took his
side and took down the woman for feeling entitled even without knowing what he and the other
passengers are going through, that’s why most passengers didn’t stand up to give her the seat.
Based on her post with two pictures captioned, “Anong masasabi niyo sa posisyon ko ngayon?
Ang saya di ba! Sa panahon ngayon wala ng gentleman,” Literally, a guy could be seen tired and
sleeping just behind her back. She didn’t mention that it was him, but it is obvious that she was
pointing on the guy right at her back. The guy, Denmark Maranan, just had to defend himself
after her post went viral. He explained his side after unexpectedly going viral for not giving up his
seat for Sam in that long ride to Bulacan.
Sam apologized and explained that she didn’t mean him when she wrote about the her post
after Maranan's post. however, users are not convinced for what she had done.

RA 10175
We live in an age where, by means of a single social media post, the reputations of innocent
people can easily—and instantly—be destroyed or damaged. All it takes is a name, a face, and a
caption.By the time the people in question get the chance to explain their side, many have judged
them to be guilty. Guilty as posted. Guilty as captioned. Guilty but not even charged.
My thoughts about the situation of the girl who made a public shaming to a boy who's
actually tired, she seemed to stick with the women's level, entirely unproven. Because getting
“shamed” online is probably deppressable. The viral cycles run fast and and people will be
laughed for it. And based on the Republic Act 10175, "AN ACT DEFINING CYBERCRIME,
PROVIDING FOR THE PREVENTION, INVESTIGATION, SUPPRESSION AND THE IMPOSITION OF
PENALTIES THEREFOR AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES" it s definetely hits the Act in shaming using
social media.

RA 10173

The guy—his personal information is collected, stored, and processed. Citizens deal with
the guy's personal details, whereabouts, and preferences instead of respecting thy data privacy
rights.
His personal data has been misused, maliciously disclosed, or improperly disposed. And his
rights have been violated, the guy deserve to file a complaint to the girl.
This act protects and maintains the right of customers to confidentiality by setting a legal
list of rules for companies to regulate the collection, handling, and disposal of all personal
information. Situation like this must be reported for spreading false data protected and misused
internally or externally.
House Bill 4807

The situation of Datu and Maraman has this unpermitted to post property. "House Bill 4807,
also known as the Protection Against Personal Intrusion Act, shall promote and protect the
personal privacy of every person by preventing intrusion for commercial purposes, and enjoining
everyone to respect the dignity, personality, privacy and peace of mind of every person."
"Under the measure, it is unlawful to capture, or to trespass on private property in order to
capture, any type of visual image, sound recording, or other physical impression of any individual,
personal or family activity for commercial purposes and even if no physical trespass has
occurred."
The girl enjoyed taking random snapshots of the person, then posting it on social media,
without knowing his backround and opinions. She wasn't thinking of the future circumstances.
Even though she already explained herseld. These kinds of often-innocent behaviors would
become illegal.
