Food Services will be introducing a standardized menu across all acute and long term care
sites within interior health in alignment with the proposed Patient Choice Meal Service
(PCMS).
This program will have an initially transition date of June 2020, with fully implementation July
2, 2020.
A standardized menu will allow for centralized support for site leadership and consistent
patient’s experience and improved reporting ability to the Ministry of Health and Licensing
requirements. There will be centralized oversight of recipes, food costs, and patient satisfaction with
decreased overall food costs to mitigate budget pressures.
Multiple disciplines was consulted throughout the process, including dieticians, Patient Voice
Network, long term care managers and supervisor’s, executive chefs, and Food Services
leadership. Thoughtful consideration has been made to ensure the best experience for our
patients and residents.
