Directions: Memorize the following expressions on starting a conversation and
learn how to use them correctly.

A. Starting an informal conversation:


1) Have you heard the latest?
2) Did you hear what happened?
3) Guess what I just found out?
4) You won’t believe this…
5) I have something to tell you.
6) Get this.
7) I heard rumor from outside, and it goes like this…
8) Somebody told me about…

B. Inviting someone to a conversation:


1) You’ve got a minute?
2) Can we talk?
3) May I have a word with you?
4) Can I talk to you?
5) We need to talk about …
6) I think we have to discuss about…

Sample dialog:
A: Did you hear what happened? Mr. Jones caught Kevin cheating
on his wife.
B: No way!
A: Yeah. I heard he was trying to hide a picture of a woman naked in
his phone when Mr. Jones saw him.
A: Gee! That’s terrible. I am sure Kevin won’t make to his home without
his wife hearing about it, knowing Mr. Jones.
