Ergonomic at work site
• Ergonomics is the study of the kind of work a person do, the
environment a person work in, and the tools person use to do
the job. It’s goal is to set up the office work space so that it fits
the person and the job the person is doing.
• Why should our work area be ergonomic?
• What kinds of injuries happen at Work ?
• How can we prevent the injuries at work?
• What can you do if you have a work related injury?

Overview of Hutti Maski Schist Belt
• The Hutti-Maski greenstone belt is a hook shaped
greenstone belt within the eastern Dharwar craton.
• The major lithological units in the Hutti Maski
greenstone belt are pillowed basalts followed by acid
to intermediate volcanic rocks and quartz.
• Two granites Intruded 1. Kavaital & Yalagati
granitoids
• 3 Face of deformation which led to cuspate structure
of the belt.

• Host Rock- Qtz-Carboante Reef
• Brittle ductile shear zones is controlling the
mineralisation
• Mining is done underground with three main shaft,
one of the shaft is Mallappa Shaft going up to 910m.
• Visit was done mainly to Strike reef, Middle reef and
the Zone I reef.
• The ore minerals in Hutti is mainly arsenopyrite,
pyrite and gold.

HGML Department Visit
• A visit to mill department which showed the different
stages of extracting gold.
• Mainly two stages of milling/Grinding process of gold
ore are practiced in HGML.
• Through gravity process coarse gold is being recover.
• Through the Carbon In pulp techniques. Image 1: Database Department

• The end product is recover as bullions bar and

bullions bottom with purity of 88-91% of gold and, 8-
11% of silver impurity.
• A visit to HGML database system , museum and core
library was done.

Uti and Hirabuddini Mines

• Uti was explored by GSI and MECL

• Commercial Exploration by HGML in 2002
• HGML started the project Uti Gold Mines on 3
lodes.
• Lode is hosted by sheared metagabro and
mineralisation is characterised by hydrothermally 1
altered wall 2
• Open Cast operation was suspended due higher Uti Gold Mine
stripping ratio.
• Hirabuddini was explored by GSI G3 stage.
• The mine is serviced by two vertical shafts, Main
Shaft 189.60m and West Shaft 170.90m depth.

An overview of Kolar Gold Field and some fun facts
• Before rediscovering KGF, ancient mines were at least 3000 years
old.
• Analytically proved that Gold coins recovered in Harappa and
Mahenjodaro belongs to KGF and Hutti Mines.
• The KGF mines run without a break of 121 years from 1880-2001.
• A total of 1647 kms long tunnels, more than 200 kms long shafts
Winzes, cuts and drives were dug.
• As per the records more than 800 tonnes of gold exploited from
these mines. 650 tonnes taken away to England till 1947.
• The Kolar Schist Belt occupies a north-south elongated area some
80 km long and 2 to 4 km in width in the eastern Dharwar Craton.
• Two types of gold deposits are recognized in Kolar gold field :
Gold- quartz - sulphide lodes and Gold- quartz- calcite vein system.
