This content of the book is about the explaining the issues of women and family, social and
economic, fiqh and medicine and politics and government that related the problem in contemporary
issues of fiqh. For the strength of this book is the author written this book with stated the question and
answer for easies the people to understand law about problem in contemporary issues of the fiqh. The
answer that author used, he elaborate the issues in nowdays, then refer the sources that agree from
scholar like Hadith, Qiyas and Athar Sahabat and explain the example from the stories in era prophet
Muhammad and Sahabat that can be related in issues.

This book can be give benefit to the community which is can explain the question about fiqh
prolems that which causes the public to hesitate about it and this book also emphasize and related the
current issues with our life. The target community to read the book Fatwa Masa Kini (Jilid 7 & 8), Dr.
Yusuf Al-Qardawi is society that has a problem to understanding a law in fiqh and the target also to
student, lecture, scholar, muslim or others as a reference for the solution of the problem of fiqh.

In this book have four chapter but we just summarize it about social and economic in the
chapter two. In the chapter social and economic in this book, it explain many issues that related with
social and economic. This chapter have 11 subtopic and between that, we just focus on 2 topic. For
the economic issues, the topic is it the money comes from illegal sources, can it be spent and for the
social is about hijack the plane. For the economic, the questions that arise in chapter 4 on economic
issues is whether the money coming from illegal sources can be spent, which is the interest that some
banks collected that is allow the bank to do anything with the money or customer can take it to pay
taxes that imposed by the government while many of these taxes are on the basis of oppression or use
it to pay for the cost of goods used in everyday life such as oil. The issue is debated and states that it
is not necessary for a person to use the interest to meet his needs or to pay the government tax
imposed on the basic of oppression as it is considered to be benefiting from the interest for personal
gain while the other person is leaving the interest and letting the bank manage it. It is also said that it
is not necessary because the act can strengthen the economy of the bank and help it to continue its
many activities it is considered to help or encourage people to commit evil. The best way to spend this
money is to spend it for charity purposes like give the interest to the poor. The sale of illegal interest
to the cause of the welfare is not considered as charity but merely as an intermediary in the delivery of
the property to the welfare.

In the social aspect there are also some issues that are happening today to all societies.
Among the issues that are happening today to all societies. Among the issues of Fiqh at issues is the
law of the game of chess. In the Fatwa Masa Kini that written by Dr. Yusuf Al-Qardawi has a clear
explanation of the game. This game was not known to Arabs in the time of prophet Muhammad, they
began to recognize it after the opening of the Mecca. That sure that many scholar give their view
about law of chess in Islam. In conclusion, the game of chess could be concluded that the chess
necessary in the law was to be conditional on the term mentioned by Imam Syafie’ and Ibn Hanifah.
One of the conditions is there is no gambling aspect in chess games and then the game does not
involved bad conversation. It can be explained that chess is required as long as it does not leave any
compulsory and does not carry any illegal things.

Among the issues that emerge in the social aspect that related with Islamic law is sing in
Islam. In this era, singing has become an entertainment for human but the question now it is allowed
in Islam. In this book there is debate of fiqh about singing in Islam. There is definitely a difference in
answers between Muslims. One the guidelines and rules that should be taken in singing of
entertainment in Islam is not all type of singing that necessary in Islam. The music must be in line
with Islamic teaching and manners and the music is not associated with banned matters such as
clothing that does not follow Islamic law and not keeping the boundaries of society. It can be
concluded that this book explain the discussion and debate on the present fiqh which is a concern in
human life. Hopefully this book is able to answer for questions to man about the fiqh.
