ANALYZE:

 Objective: Students will use text clues to make inferences.

 6 students: 8th grade. 3 diagnosed with specific learning disabilities in reading and written
expression, 2 with ADHD, and 1 with Autism.
 Setting: Online, Using Google Classroom
 Barriers: Limited face-to-face instruction
 Lesson timeline- 1 class period

DESIGN:

 Learning objectives: Students will watch videos and record inferences made, practice
with text examples, and then upload online.
 Assessment instruments: Google Forms as formative assessment
 Content: Introduction video, PowerPoint, practice work, survey

DEVELOP:

 All course work will be uploaded to Google Classroom.

 Survey will be created using Google Forms.

IMPLEMENT:

 Students will watch introduction video on class webpage.

 Students will read through the PowerPoint uploaded.
 Students will create a document with the inferences they have made from the practice
videos and text.
 Students will upload work to Google Classroom.
EVALUATE:

 Students will complete Google Form survey as a formative assessment. This will guide
future instruction.

The ADDIE instructional model is effective for this lesson because it has all the necessary
components a lesson should have. It is not too vague and not too complex, which is fitting for
distance learning. This model first had me analyze the setting, students, and objectives which is
important. By thinking about what is to be taught, what is available, demographics of students,
and possible barriers, it can set my lesson up for success. Next, I began to think about the design,
or what instruments and content will be needed. This is also important when teaching online.
Then I began to develop the lesson by uploading material to Google Classroom, creating a
dropbox, and making a Google Form survey. From here, I can implement my lesson with the
students. Finally, I can use their survey results to evaluate, or formative assess. Their responses
will guide my future instruction. Overall, the ADDIE instruction model has every component
that will make this lesson effective and will fit distance learning.
