Key Learning

Design thinking workshop gave us an opportunity to think creatively with an open mind and to shape
up a raw idea to a prototype. It helped us understand the entire product designing process with a
much innovative approach. Design Thinking is about holistic product design and helped us look much
deeper into the problem and understand customer needs and gather insights. Now, we will be able
to look at ‘designing’ from more than just a process required to give a finishing touch. We learnt that
Design thinking starts right at the beginning even before defining the problem.

 Getting to know how constructive feedback can lead to better solutions

When we were pitching washing machines to students, there were various
suggestions which we had not actually given much thought. Some of them proved to
be more very crucial in developing the revenue model as well as defining the value
proposition.
 Less is more
I had been a believer of researching the background and the context before
attempting any problem. This course taught me that solutions are sometimes
obvious and in
front of us. One does not require Euromonitor reports every time to come up with
solutions.
 Persona mapping with value propositions
One of the key takeaways for me. It is so obvious but generally value proposition
does not always connect with the all the personas of the target customer. The
mapping tends to get lost.
 Observation is key
Research does not always point to any solution. One's observation and insight
through the research leads to solving a problem or identifying a need. Sometimes,
even observing the target audience and their traits is also very important.
