2. Due to the Coron virus, all public transportation in the country has stopped. What are
the consequences of this? List three positives and three negative things for each.

Due to the unexpected spread of the corona virus, a thing that no one expected, not even a
few months back when the virus appeared, public transport was terminated. This decision
had to be introduced for the simple reason that public transport is one of the main and
biggest causes of spreading this virus. This decision affected thousands of people who found
themselves in the problem at that moment.

One of the major consequences of abolishing the public transit is heavy traffic. A large
number of people only used public transportation for their daily needs like going to job,
shop, market or any other important destination. All these people were found in trouble,
and they needed to find a solution.

Another bad consequence is the large number of traffic jams. All people who are required to
use public transportation will most often decide to use a car now, which will certainly lead to
huge traffic jams.

Another consequence is certainly economic. As more people can not use public transport, it
certainly leads to economic losses.

The main positive side of abolishing the public transport is certainly termination of spreading
the virus through this way.

Certain number of people whose destination is not so far away will use a bicycle or walk to
their destinations, which certainly leads to a healthier lifestyle.

Also, due to the prohibition of public transport, most people who do not have to go to work
will stay at home and have more time for their family and spend more time with them. (8)(9)

3. What would you recommend to people who are addicted to public transport and do not
have their own car but are in a situation like that? Write down five ideas to help them
solve this problem.

Public transport in Ljubljana is not operating and this is certainly a big problem for all
residents of Ljubljana who depend on public transport. First of all, these restrictions were
needed as the situation is worsening throught Europe. Everything was done to keep people
at home. The rules must be strict and it should be clear who and why any type of transport
should be used. For basic personal needs like grocery shoping any kind of transport wont be
needed. But if individuals still need to move and travel the city, then they should have
documented and important reasons to circulation.

The first idea to solve this problem would be related to city of Ljubljana, which can make
slight changes in public transport for these specific individuals. First of all, they should
analyze the situation, enumerate the people and their reasons for using public transport.
According to the made list, they should make decision to organize several public transport
lines to conect people who are depending on public transport. While implementing an
enhanced cleaning regime of used public transport vehiles. Transport should be done with
respect of social distane and without direct contact with people selling tickets.
The next idea would be to rent or borrow cars or motocycles from rent-a-car agenscies or
friends/family members. Due to situation the city of Ljubljana could support agencies with
duty relief only if they give the lowes possible prices for these services.

The third would be walking for all people that are close to their aims. This is maybe the most
beneticial way for individual person in theis personal phisicaly improvement.

Fourth would be using using alternative means of transport. Such as: taxi, scooter, bike,
scateboard and similar.

Final idea would be asking colleague, friend or family member who is in same or similar need
for public transport to share car or cost for any of these ideas.

4. How have other European countries responded to urban transport? Find five examples
for each EU country and describe the transport measures (cite sources!).

As we all know the world is currently experiencing an epidemic called coronavirus. This
epidemic affects all markets from all over the world. Coronavirus originated in China and
quickly spread throughout the world and due this situation every country had to prepare
measures to protect its citizens. The solution that the government found was to close all
sectors of the economy like stores, companies and tourism infrastructure. Even though the
government kept only the essentials opened like supermarkets and pharmacies.

With this scenario the governments also adopted some measures on urban transports. In
some countries the urban transports are completely stopped while in other countries the
urban transports only reduced hours.

To start we research what is happening with urban transportation in Italy. In Italy the
situation is very terrible and for that the Italian government took drastic measures. In Italy
you only can travel for work, buy food and urgent medical needs. To control more effectively
the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport reduce regional bus, train, air and ferry services.

In Portugal we can find some measures on urban transports. In Portugal like other countries
allows people to go out only for work, buy food and urgent medical needs. It is prohibited
the arrival of passengers and crew member from cruise ships; all flights were canceled; in
bus services all entrances and exits should be only through the rear doors; all users need to
buy online tickets, so drivers won’t contact with cash and of course cleaning and disinfection
actions were reinforced.

In France the government prohibited all travel for the next 15 days. They started this
measure at 17/03/20.

In Poland the international passenger air flights and international rail travel is suspended and
all the boards are closed.
In Slovakia the government suspended all civil flights, the international rail transport is also
suspended, and the domestic rail transport is rescheduled. The taxi services are suspended,
and the national bus services are limited. To travel all passengers should have safety
protective equipment.

In Spain the government canceled the flights to Italy, Balearic and Canary Islands and closed
all boards.

In Austria the government put on a specific traffic restriction regarding local or regional and
of course, like other countries it closed all boards. (10)(11)
