Title: Suggestion to Improve Public Transportation In Malaysia
Code: ECEI

One of technologically innovations that widely improve humans life is transportation. Advances
in transportation have brought people to travel worldwide and father, to explore more territories
and countries and even expand their influences over larger area. During ancient times, as new
discoveries and inventions were applied over transportation problems, the ability to move is
harder and larger loads increased. At first sight, it started with the invention of a Brazilian
scientist, Santos Dummont who created the 14BIS, the very first motor powered airplanes in the
world. With Santos Dummonts invention, innovation on transports continues today and the
researchers are working and researching together to find new ways in increasing transport
efficiency besides reducing costs.

These days we have been surprised with the innovation of transportation in Japan whereby
theirs are modern and highly developed. Which its transportation stands for its efficiency of
energy, it uses less energy per person compared to other countries. For example, A JR East E5
series Shinkansen (Railway) train, a massive innovation that have been made and well-known
for Japans speed train or bullet train which surprised the transportation sector in the world
industries. So how does we improve transportation in Malaysia with a number of populace all
over the country? Here are few suggestions and ways to improve and overcome the problems
of transportation in Malaysia.

At the first place, recently the reduction in the fuel subsidy, people would be willingly to use
public transportation if it were improved. The actions should be taken by the government in
order to improve public transportation of course to look at other places and see what they have
done so that the public transport system will be improved. Thus, a parliamentary Committee for
Public Transportation must be created to oversee public transportation in Malaysia. With the
presence of a Parliamentary Committee, planning and decision-making will be improved through
open planning and discussion. They will help the public to understand the proposals that have
been made by the bus operators and the government.

Malaysia has been providing adequate infrastructure to ensure smooth transportation system all
over the country with the current transport has facilitated community life. Next step, to build a
better public transport, we need to make sure what is the simple tool that public have been used
to a location, cars and taxis. The vehicle as a prerequisite for the people to offices, schools,
supermarkets and so on. Each family must have a car to help them for their daily activities and if
you do not have a car, they have to use bus or taxi to go to the destinations. Before the
existence of advanced transportation system in the capital such as LRT or the Light Rail Transit
station, the bus is the most popular public transport to go for a location or destination. Most
users cannot escape from the service of bus or mini bus because the services provided an
operation of close trip even included a trip away, from one district to another district or from one
state to another state. Thus, the introduction of the LRT is a blessing to the public because this
sophisticated system provide such a transportation service to avoid traffic congestion. Indirectly,
users are able to get to their destinations quickly without hesitation or experiencing traffic jams
along the way.

Furthermore, actions should be taken with Malaysia making its way towards becoming a highincoe nation, the government has realized an urgent need for its cities, particularly Kuala

Lumpur to have a reliable and world-class public transportation system. With the objection of
making a dependable urban public transport system is vital for such a big city for example of
Kuala Lumpur through its standard. These were inspired by cities from abroad such as London,
New York Cities, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong. The key part of making a large city like
Kuala Lumpur and its surrounding for work, play, leisure and learning is an efficient urban public
transportation. Only an efficient and well-planned system can move large numbers of people in
the morning and evening, the rush hours for a large scale or populace of workers in a big city.

Last but not least is to practice car sharing and high occupancy vehicles only lanes. Through car
sharing provides affordable, short-term (hour and daily rate) motor vehicle rentals in a
residential areas, giving consumers and users a convenient and affordable alternative to vehicle
ownership. Buses, vanpool and carpool priority over general traffic congestions. Highoccupancy vehicles-only lanes are a more efficient and equitable allocation of road space and
use of road capacity (they impose less congestion on other road users), and can serve as an
incentive to shift transportation modes.
