Learning Experience Plan
Set-up and arrangement of materials and equipment
All children will be at the group circle for story time and the pencils and notebooks will be given put to
the kids afterwards at the tables.

Transition Planning: Describe how the children will transition into the learning experience.
To transition into the activity the teachers and I will gather all the kids to the circle time area and will
describe our objective learning for the day. We will talk about what we want the children to learn and
describe the book we will be reading. We will ask the kids a question of what their favorite
thanksgiving food is.
What is the teacher’s role (what will you do) during this learning experience?
My role is to make sure that all children are paying attention to the story that they are listening to and
to help them understand the story by asking questions.

What will the children do during the learning experience? (Remember children are active, hands-on
learners!)
During this learning experience they will listen to the story. Then when the story is finished, they will
brainstorm a few questions about thanksgiving.

How will the learning experience area be cleaned up? (How will the children help in this process?
Where will the leftover materials be put? Where will the children’s artwork be place?)
After the reading and questions, they will give all the items to the teachers and the answers to the
questions will be hung in the hallway or the classroom wall/billboard.

Transition Planning: Describe how the children will transition out of the learning experience.
Ask each child as they line up and walk out for whatever activity is next, what is their favorite
thanksgiving food.

Self-Evaluation of Learning Experience: The following questions should be answered as soon as

possible after presenting the activity in the classroom.
Reflect on your success. Describe what went well.
What I think would go well with this is that the children would love the story and how I read it. I think
it would not be too difficult to pinpoint out what they need to do and pay attention to when I read as
well.

Did the learning experience support the developmental skill that you planned to support? How
do you know?
Yes, during the reading of the book I would be asking questions and the kids answering and talking
with me and brainstorming what the saw in the book. It also gives the children the opportunity to work
together to talk about the book and discuss their opinions.

What changes would you make in the space and/or materials used in this learning experience?
All recommended changes should be supported with examples of the children’s participation. If you
said, “no change,” support your response.
If the reading does not go as planned, I would probably change the way I approach it and do the
activity or make something else to go with it if it does not keep their attention.

What changes would you make in your teaching of this learning experience? Support each change
you list. If you said, “no change,” support your response.
I believe I could do better in how to introduce the activity or how it goes with the kids. I want to make
sure it is entertaining and that I’m clear on what I want the kids to do as I read.

Would you do this learning experience again? Why or why not?

Yes, I love to read to kids, and it is so much fun when the children enjoy it too. Also, fun when you
make it an interactive story.
