Preface
Today, CAD (Computer Aided Design) is part of the basic equipment of every
modern drawing workstation.

For this reason we began in 1990 to develop liNear , the AutoCAD-application for
civil engineering, with which all drawing work arising in engineer’s offices can be
carried out. Soon, our users asked for CAD-libraries of certain producers to
integrate their products quickly and simply into the CAD-program.

We took this into account, and thus, we designed the applications of the producers
KSB, AKO, KERMI, GRUNDFOS, ARI, IDEAL STANDARD, etc., and finally the
application for products of the SIKLA company.

The manufacturer - application: SIKLA

With kind support of the SIKLA company, we developed the SIKLA-application for
AutoCAD, which allows you to draw quickly and accurately equipment pieces and
details.

You insert the products in precise detail and true to scale in up to five views.

The application offers to you labelling text wich is important for the drawing:

You label a product through when you click at the product in the drawing, and you
may position the text anywhere in the drawing independent of the position of the
product. Type, type size, and line thickness, you may select, freely.

The integrated SIKLA parts list function knows what to do:

Every SIKLA component in the drawing will be added up. A preview may save you
printing. Output is made either to the printer or into a file in connection with a
mask-file (ASCII-format) that is free-editable.

1 System Requirements

Note:
If you’re upgrading from a previous release, ensure that you don’t lose files you have
customized.

1.1 Hardware

Processor: Intel 80486, Pentium or compatible

RAM: 16 MByte (minimum)
CD-ROM-drive: 4-speed or faster
Display: Windows supported display adapter
(1024 x 768 pixel minimum)
Pointer device: Mouse
Output device: Printer, plotter

Operating system: Microsoft Windows 95 or
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
AutoCAD R13c4 and higher

If you use this program with less RAM, calculations will take more time and
regeneration of big drawings is much slower.

2 Installation instruction
for Windows 95 / Windows NT

Before installing the SIKLA-Application from CD, you must install Microsoft
Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0.
Please read the following instructions carefully as well as the file readme.txt. This
file is written in ASCII-format and can be read with any editor (i.e. Windows
notepad).

With the setup program you can install the application on your hard disk straight
from CD-ROM. We use the same installation program as Microsoft uses for their
products.

For installation of SIKLA for Windows please insert the SIKLA-

CD in the CD-ROM drive of your computer and choose in the
START menu of Windows 95 or Windows NT the menu entry

Run...

To start the installation program please enter

D:\setup

and click on the button „OK“.

If your CD-ROM drive has another drive letter (i.e. R:), you must replace D: by the
drive letter of your CD-ROM.

2.1 Installation on hard disk

We distinguish between standard installation and complete installation.

Standard installation means, that only program files of the SIKLA-application will
be installed on your hard disk, all other data are read straight from CD.

If you choose complete installation, both program and data files will be installed on
your hard disk.

Note:
According to your type of hard disk (i.e. cluster size) up to 15 MB of space on your
hard disk is used!

Please enter the target dircetory.

Note:
For installation under Windows NT you need administrator rights, because you must
have the rights to make system settings.

The vertical progress bar shows (left first) installation progress of actual file, actual
disk or CD and already used disk space on your hard disk. Progress of the whole
installation is shown by the horizontal progress bar (see picture).

After setting up the program group “ SIKLA CD apr'98“ installation is completed .

If you have installed the Adobe Acrobat Reader you can read this manual online.
The file SIKLAWIN.PDF is the manual for Windows which you can find in the
directory \DOC on your CD.

If you don’t have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed yet, you can install the Adobe
Acrobat Reader for Windows now.

3 Description of the dialogue boxes

By use of new objectoriented programming methods this application by liNear®
GmbH represents a new generation of manufacturer specific applications for
AutoCAD, which makes high speed - also with a large number of products - and a
comfortable user interface available to you.

liNear - User
®
If you are using the liNear application, you can also use all symbols from the SIKLA
application in your planning. The symbols for sanitary or heating objects are inserted
in different layers, so you can combine drawings for different parts of your planning
in one drawing. By switching off all other but the sanitary parts of your drawing with

the liNear layer control function you need only a few mouse clicks to control the
visibility of drawing elements for view and plot.

Start the liNear as usual, start the SIKLA application by a double click on the
program symbol, which you can find in the start menu in the section PROGRAM in
the program group SIKLA. Establish the connection to AutoCAD with the button
‘AutoCAD-Connection’.

AutoCAD -User
Start AutoCAD as usual, make a new drawing, select your drawing format and the
correct scale. Start the application by double click onto the program symbol, which
you can find in the start menu in „PROGRAM | SIKLA“. Establish the connection
to AutoCAD by clicking on the button AutoCAD-Connection.

3.2 Fields
The products are separated hierarchically into the following sections:

• Product field:
You will find all product fields in this list box. Select the one you want – i.e.
accesories.

• Pretext...
shows a common text about the product filed. You can copy the pretext into
clipboard with the context menu.

• Product group:
Select one of the existing groups of the product field.

• Product:
Here you find all products of a selected product group. By selecting another
product at the same time the preview on right hand in the dialogue box changes.
In addition you can view the 'longtext' for this product or copy the longtext into
clipboard.

• Long text:
Here you can view the 'longtext' for this product. By using the context menu (click
with the right mouse button on the longtext) you can copy the longtext into
clipboard.

3.3 Functions

Connection to AutoCAD
Activates the connection to AutoCAD. The buttons for drawing, labelling and parts list are
set active now so that you can use them.

Draw
Inserts the selected product in the drawing, after you have chosen the insert point and,
possibly, the turning angle.

Label
When you select a SIKLA product in the drawing, you can insert the labelling text to the
product at any position in the drawing.

Parts list
Creates a SIKLA parts list either from a selected number, or from all products (write „all“
at command line) in the drawing as text-file in Windows notepad or another Windows
editor.

Project data
Input of head data for the parts list, as for example project, contractor, planner, date, etc.

Defaults
General configuration for drawing and labelling, etc.

Note:
These defaults will be saved in a separate configuration file in the index of the application.

3.4 Dialogue box Project data

Please, write down the project information, here. The information will appear on the
head of the parts list. The parts list is created in the program directory on the basis
of the mask file SIKLA.MSK, which is a simple ASCII-file that you can adapt to your
needs.

3.5 Dialogue box defaults

Here you can set the configuration, which refers to scales, drawing units, text
alignments, etc. When the configuration is set, it will be permanently saved in the file
SIKLA.CFW.

• Labelling text
Set the justification size and colour of the text. Note: If you
place a cross in the defaults box your settings will be ignored.

If you cross the field Defaults from file, the specifications

about text size and colour will be ignored.

In the COLOURS dialogue you can change the colour of the

labelling text.

• Drawing parameters
You can set scale and drawing unit in wide margins.

• Mode of presentation
This field can not be modified.

• Show splash screen

If you cross this field , you will see the splash screen at program start.

• Hide for AutoCAD

If you cross this option, the dialogue box will be hidden, when you click onto the
button DRAW. After inserting the symbol in your drawing the dialogue box comes
back to foreground automatically.

• OK
You leave configuration dialogue and save the new configuration.

• CANCEL
You leave the dialogue box without changes in the configuration.

In the COLOURS dialogue you may set the labelling text

color. Here you can define a special colour or use the colour
of the layer or block.

When the configuration is set, the colour will be saved in the

file SIKLA.CFW.

3.6 Dialogue box parts list

The parts list are created mask-controlled. The variables are taken from the dialogue
„project data“.

When you press the button „Parts list“, you will see the prompt

Now you can select objects from your drawing or write ALL at the command line.
Select the SIKLA part you require from the list.

With the liNear application you can also create parts list for different parts of your
drawing - i.e. parts lists for sanitary objects or heating objects. The parts list is
displayed with the editor program you have configured i.e. notepad. It can be saved
as a normal text file or you can copy it to a text processing program like MS
WinWord.

By editing the manufacturer specific mask file SIKLA.MSK you may adapt the mask
to meet your requirements. You will find this file in LINEARNT\LIBRARY\SIKLA
(if you have installed the application in default directory).

The number in the first line of the mask file is the number of lines per page. The
position of all other commands can be placed freely between separators (;) according
to your requirements.

We also offer DXF-files for other CAD systems supporting the DXF format (i.e.
AutoSketch, AcadLT ...). The DXF files contain SIKLA products as components (or
as macros). You will find these files in directory \DXF on CD-ROM.
