PRE TEST PPU 02

A poor boy sold goods from door to door to pay his school fee. One day he had only a little money left and he was very hungry. He
decided to ask for some food at the next house he visited. However he was so nervous when a lovely young woman opened the
door. He only asked for a glass of water. The woman thought that the boy was hungry so she gave him a large glass of milk. He
drank it slowly, and then asked. “How much do owe you?”. “You don’t owe me anything,” she replied, “Mother has taught us never
to accept pay for a kindness.” He said, “Then u thank you from my heart.” As the poor boy left that house, he felt stronger. His faith
in God was getting stronger too. He had been ready to stop his study but now he got a spirit to continue it until he became a
doctor.
Some years later that young woman became critically ill. She was sent to the big city to cure her disease. The poor boy was the
doctor. When he knew the name of the town she came from. he went to meet her. He recognized her at once. He tried hard to save
the woman’s life. From then on he gave special attention to the sick woman. After a long struggle, the woman could be cured. The
poor boy paid all the bill. He wrote “Paid in full with one glass of milk” under the bill. When the woman opened the bill, tears of joy
flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed,” thank you God, that your love has spread abroad through human hearts and hands.

The ethnic groups in the mountain regions of southwest and central Sulawesi (Celebes) are known by the name of Toraja, which
has come to mean “Those who live upstream” or “Those who live in the mountains”. Their name is in fact derived from the word
Raja, which in Sanskrit means “King”. The society is hierarchically structured (the noblemen are called rengnge, the ordinary
people to makaka, and the slaves to kaunan) birth determines which rank a person will occupy.
The distinctive features of the traditional houses (tongkonan) of the Toraja are the “Buffalo horns”, the roof design and the rich
decoration on the walls. The buffalo is a symbol of status, courage, strength, and fi ghting spirit.
Designed as a representation of the universe, the tongkonan is constructed in three parts: the upper world (the roof), the world of
humans (the middle of the building), and the underworld (the space under the fl oor). The highly distinctive roofs constructed by
the Toraja have given rise to various ingenious interpretations. Certainly the roof is something of deep signifi cance for the Toraja,
and even today they build “Modern” (in other words houses built with cement) houses with such roofs.

Two days ago I went to the Merapi Mountain. It was the first time I climbed the mountain. I did it with some of my friends.
We start climbing at 8 p.m. It was so dark and we only used flashlight to get the way. I felt no worry because all of my friends were
professional climber. I just followed their instruction. We climbed slowly and enjoy the night there. After 7 hours walking in the dark,
we could reach the top of the mountain. It was at 3 a.m. early in the morning. We were not alone. There were a lot of people who
reached that top before us.
We waited the sun rises by cooking some food and making some hot drink to get back our energy. We sang some songs together,
shared stories and got acquainted with people there. After seeing the sun raised, we had to go back home. Getting down the
mountain was not as hard as the climbing process because we only spent a few energy and time even we had to be more careful to
do this process. However, it was great experience i had ever done so far. After all, that was my great experience I had ever have.

Cars should be banned in the city. As we all know, cars create pollution, and cause a lot of road deaths and other accidents.
Firstly, cars, as we all know, contribute to most of the pollution in the world. Cars emit a deadly gas that causes illnesses such as
bronchitis, lung cancer, and ‘triggers’ of asthma. Some of these illnesses are so bad that people can die from them.
Secondly, the city is very busy. Pedestrians wander everywhere and cars commonly hit pedestrians in the city, which causes them
to die. Cars today are our roads biggest killers.
Thirdly, cars are very noisy. If you live in the city, you may find it hard to sleep at night, or concentrate on your homework, and
especially talk to someone.
In conclusion, cars should be banned from the city for the reasons listed.

If someone is having a nose bleed, your priority is to control the bleeding and keep their airway open.
Get them to sit down (not lie down) as keeping the nose above the heart will reduce bleeding.
Get them to lean forward (not backwards), to make sure the blood drains out through their pause every ten minutes, until the
bleeding stops.
Encourage them not to speak, swallow, cough, spit or sniff because this may break blood clots that may have started to form in the
nose.
If the bleeding is severe, or if it lasts more than 30 minutes, call for medical help.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is a fun movie about one of Marvel’s most enduringly popular characters. Starring an actual teen (Tom
Holland) as web-slinging high schooler Peter Parker, its spirit is very much in line with the original comics. As always with Spider-
Man, there are messages about power and responsibility, finding strength within yourself, being brave, and persevering.
Clever, funny, and true to the Spider-Man spirit, this take on everyone’s favorite web-slinger is thoroughly entertaining. The world
was understandably skeptical of yet another Spidey reboot, but in this case, it was the right call. Even more than the Toby Maguire
and Andrew Garfield takes on the wall crawler — as good as those were — Spider-Man: Homecoming really captures the tone of
the original comics. A large part of that is thanks to the fact that, for the first time on the big screen, Peter is being played by an
actual teenager.
It’s not a perfect film; the plot doesn’t always have a totally clear trajectory. And while Tony and Peter’s lack of
communication/mutual frustration brings to mind Harry’s relationship with Professor Dumbledore during some of the Harry Potter
saga, their dynamic brings something new and powerful to the Marvel-verse as well: true mentorship.
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ – the 16th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – might just be one of the best ones yet! The
latest Spider-Man movie introduces us to a new, hilarious, middle-school aged Peter Parker (Tom Holland), who is facing multiple
difficulties in his teenage life. While he’s trying to prove to his new mentor, Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), that he has
what it takes to become an Avenger.

Nepalese rescuers on Friday found three bodies near the wreckage of a U.S. Marine helicopter that disappeared earlier this week
while on a relief mission in the earthquake-hit Himalayan nation, officials said.
Nepal’s Defense Secretary Iswori Poudyal gave no details about the nationalities of the victims. The helicopter was carrying six
Marines and two Nepalese army soldiers.
The wreckage was found near Gothali village in the district of Dolakha.
The U.S. Embassy in Nepal had no immediate comment Friday.
The discovery of the wreckage, first spotted by a Nepalese army helicopter Friday, followed days of intense search involving U.S.
and Nepalese aircraft and even U.S. satellites.
The U.S. relief mission was deployed soon after a magnitude-7.8 quake hit April 25, killing more than 8,200 people. It was followed
by another magnitude-7.3 quake on Tuesday that killed 117 people and injured 2,800.
The second quake was centered between Kathmandu and Mount Everest, and hit hardest in deeply rural parts of the Himalayan
foothills, hammering many villages reached only by hiking trails and causing road-blocking landslides.

Flooding is a disaster which commonly happens in large and densely populated cities. In Indonesia, the floods hit Jakarta very
often and cause many victims. Then, do you know the process of how flood happens? Pay attention to the following explanation.
The process of natural flooding is preceded by rain which falls to the surface of the earth. Then the rain water is absorbed by the
ground surface and flows to the lower place. Once that condition happens, evaporation and the water appear to the surface of the
land. Flooding can be disastrous for humans when floods happen in an area that people live because the water carries along
objects like houses, bridges, cars, furniture and even people.
On the other hand, the process of non natural flooding is usually caused by bad habits of humans who do not care about the
environment, such as littering that can make water flow clogged. This makes the water deposited in landfills which gradually
becomes more common. When water reservoirs can no longer hold water discharge, the water then overflows out theland and
cause flooding.

Guess what happened when there was fisherman who threw a big fish back into the water and keep only that small one? It is
unusual incident, isn’t?
One morning, a man was crossing a narrow bridge. When he saw a fisherman under him on the shady bank of the deep smooth
river, he stopped to watch him quietly.
He saw that the fisherman took off the hook and caught a big fish. But he threw it back to water. Then he put his hook and line in
again. After a minute he caught rather big fish. Again, he threw it back into the river. Then the third time, he caught a small fish. He
put it into his basket and started to get ready to go. The man on the bridge was very surprised, so he spoke to the fisherman. He
asked why did he threw those beautiful big fishes back into the water and just kept only the small one.
The fisherman looked up and answered, “I only have a small frying pan.”
Poor fisherman!
