classroom. It also allows teachers to align the curriculum for each grade level in order to make smooth
transitions based on skills and knowledge of content.
● Teachers will have the opportunity to grow and learn from teacher leaders in their grade and/or content area.
This will allow new teachers to increase their effectiveness in creating a classroom environment where
students are challenged at their level of learning for the best outcomes.
● Professional cohorts among teachers working in the same subject and/or grade levels will achieve consistency
between teachers and grade levels. Building Units by Design and collaborating across the curriculum to
ensure students are building on skills from grade level to grade level.
● New teachers keep journals and identify problem areas they would like to evaluate. As teacher researchers,
they will collect data, analyze and evaluate it to inform them of best practices. The teacher will adjust their
lessons to the learning needs of their students.
Evaluation of the Program

● When working with students on units with clear learning objectives, it is important for
students to understand what they are learning and why they are learning. Each day the
teacher will write a learning objective on the board. These learning targets will inform
students of the lesson, and keep the teacher focused on the purpose of the unit.
● Reflecting on best practices, teachers will implement lessons and make modifications
based on the outcomes. Teachers will evaluate lessons identifying what is working and
not working. This process of specific, measurable goals and the reflection of their
effectiveness will result in ongoing professional learning.
● New teachers will align their professional goals with their student goals. They will work
with all stakeholders to ensure a community of learners. Teachers will practice classroom
management that builds respect, responsibility, and safety.
