A major challenge for many operators is finding and acquiring new base station
sites in order to expand network capacity and coverage. The availability of suitable
site locations is often restricted, leading to operators sharing existing sites and
infrastructure. In many cases, this approach requires extra hardware, creating a
bigger footprint and increasing the site’s complexity.
To help overcome these issues, the Nokia Solutions and Networks Flexi Multiradio
Radio Frequency (RF) Module 6Tx provides an extremely compact, high capacity
and upgradeable solution that supports multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO)
configurations.
High power, compact and flexible
Flexi Multiradio RF Module 6Tx is the latest Single RAN product from the Nokia
Solutions and Networks Liquid Radio portfolio. Flexi Multiradio RF Module 6Tx is
a 6-pipe, three sector, site solution housed in a single, compact 25 liter, 25 kg,
IP65-certified outdoor unit.
The new Flexi RF Module is the industry’s first product to enable a three-sector
configuration with a total power of 240W (6 x 40W) and up to 20 MHz of instantaneous
bandwidth to support full and fragmented spectrum bands. The module is suitable
for indoor or outdoor use, for standard or distributed antenna deployments, and for
mast-top installation to build three-sector sites and high performance six-sector
sites. It enables operators to meet rapid traffic growth at much lower cost than
conventional site investments and to deliver a more consistent customer experience.
Combining the RF Module with an outdoor Flexi Multiradio System Module creates
a complete Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station that can be placed next to an antenna,
enabling a feederless, multiradio arrangement that suits limited spaces and at sites
that are difficult to equip with traditional base stations.
Nokia Solutions and Networks Liquid Radio is a highly innovative offering that helps
operators to meet the constantly changing capacity demands of mobile broadband
users and to manage the rising complexity of networks in the most cost-effective way
possible.
Liquid Radio enables operators to direct mobile broadband
capacity to locations where it is needed the most, enabling
a more economic use of network resources by sharing and
redistributing capacity according to user demand. Nokia
Solutions and Networks Liquid Radio for Single RAN products
are built on three key constituents -Baseband pooling, Active
Antenna Systems and Unified Heterogeneous Networks.
Available for the 800 MHz and 2600 MHz bands, the RF Module
provides a high output power of 6 x 40W and high bandwidth.
High output power extends a cell’s reach and enables better
indoor coverage. It also provides higher multiradio capacity
using less hardware.

specific requirements and provide the most efficient coverage

The Nokia Solutions and Networks Flexi Multiradio RF Module
6Tx Radio is the only product that can support up to six-sector
sites, using two RF Modules for a MIMO configuration with 480W
output power and a zero footprint.Extensive field trials have
proven that a six-sector configuration delivers up to 80% more
capacity and up to 40% more coverage, which translates into
40% lower total cost of ownership (TCO) compared to a three-
sector solution.
Ready for LTE- Advanced
When used with Nokia Solutions and Networks baseband Flexi
Multiradio System Module, the Flexi Multiradio RF Module
6Tx offers a complete Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station that is
capable of being upgraded to LTE-Advanced (3GPP Releases
9 and 10) by a simple, cost-effective software update. The
Nokia Solutions and Networks Flexi Multiradio RF Module 6Tx is
based on the proven Flexi Base Station platform that has been
deployed in more than 200 networks to provide the highest
levels of quality, reliability and availability.
