This course served as an introduction to various components of multimedia, web page design, and
document design. Projects included working with audio recording software, Adobe Creative Suite
programs, and HTML/CSS.

This course addressed what it means to be a technical editor as well as the processes of copyediting and
comprehensive editing. Projects included working with Adobe Creative Suite programs and editing
peers work.

This course addressed the process of proposal and grant writing process. A major project included
communicating with a community partner to develop a grant. This project included searching for
funding, reading requests for proposals (RFPs), and writing effective proposals and grant applications.

ENGL 401 | Writing for Careers


This course addressed professional communication with a focus on author, subject, and audience.
Projects included memos, letters, resumes, reports, and persuasive messages. Projects also focus on
interpersonal and small group communication, interviews, presentations, and global communication.

ENGL 402 | Technical Writing


This course addressed the processes of technical and professional writing. A major project included
communication with a technical company, iFixit. This project included technical definitions,
instructions, and reports.

ENGL 412 | Grammar for Writers


This course addressed basic grammatical concepts and structures, identified distinguishing
characteristics of various styles of writing, and analyzed communications for rhetorical and
grammatical conventions. A major project was to develop and create a large portfolio. This portfolio
included a blog post, a character sketch, and analytical analysis essay. This project included responding
to other writers with sensitivity, and illustrated a solid understanding of grammar, syntax, and style in
our commentary.
